Devil May Cry 5

A NEW INSTALLMENT OF THE DEFINITIVE ACTION VIDOEGAME IS UPON US.

For those readers who never heard of Devil May Cry (DMC), it is a very popular hack and slash, action adventure, third person shooter video game franchise that debuted in 2001 for the PlayStation 2. Since then, there have been four installments based in a particular fantasy world and one reboot. Making that five major releases in total. Produced and published by Japan based video game giant Capcom, it is the brainchild of veteran game developer Hideki Kamiya. Fun fact, the team was originally experimenting with the technology at the time in an attempt to create Resident Evil 4 (come on we all know that game, there's a whole bunch of movies based loosely on it too). Later installments were overseen by other renowned development teams and the reboot, still published by Capcom, was created by a third part studio, Ninja Theory - who did a fantastic job in my opinion. Besides the games there is an animated feature, a number of mangas (essentially Japanese comics), a comic and a few light novellas.

I can claim that Devil May Cry is one of the best things that ever happened to some of us video game enthusiasts . The fan base is rigid and convenes in solidarity through various online communities, such as Discord. For the most part, they are, we are, an amiable bunch. This is in part to the level of technicality behind the game's mechanics. You see, we sit all day and converse about what the main characters can do in particular situations. Ever heard of frame data? That would be a bit much to get into here, but simply put, frame data is visually rendered material for the purpose of analysis. So, players go as deep as capturing the gameplay, slowing it down and analyzing it to get come up with information and statistics. That's the thing, the game gets so technical that once you dive in and did not get overwhelmed, you may end up being consumed. In the words of Vergil (game character) - "I need more power..." FUN RIGHT? Maybe.. You know what? Here's an example.

ANYWAY...

The new devil may cry is upon us and many are excited. This will be the first one in the series to be released in the era of 10 nano-meter chips and 4 teraflop devices, which means that the last game was made on a system less than a quarter the power of current generation hardware.

I mean...this picture is not CGI, it is a snapshot from rendered gameplay!

DMC5 also carries on the story from the original series, not the reboot. The main character, Dante, is so iconic in gaming culture that his name buzzes around every time someone wants to reference something "badass".

The new installment is set to be released on March 8th 2019 and boy is the hype real! Finally, here's the latest trailer put forth by Capcom at the september Tokyo Game Show event in Japan.
