We had a tree in our front yards for years, it was literally a twig with some leaves when we first moved in. It was right next to the water meter and i though it would be best to remove it while it was small (maybe out it in the back yard) before its inevitably grabbed the water pipes and caused a ruckus later on.

The real estate and some of the residents didn't like the idea of removing/moving the plant/tree and so it stayed in place.

Years later it was a 8ft grown tree and indeed took to the water lines for sustenance. The restate had to send out a group of 4 guys to clear the pipes and replace/repair segments of it.... but still the tree stayed.

More years after that the tree was found to have borers, which are wood boring beetles, while we treated the issue with them and thought they had been eliminated, they came back and finished off the tree and it had pretty much died.

After expressing the concern that the tree (now around 12ft) may lose branches damaging the house and neighbors property AND stating we had documentation of our expressed concern over this tree over a number of years which would clearly indicate negligence on the part of the restate.... they send some guys out to remove the tree.

It was removed over two days, the first day was a quick job done with chainsaws and some elbow grease. the second day thes send the machine in the images out to make easy work of the stump sticking out of the ground.

I feel sorry for the tree, it was set up to fail. from its positioning in the yard next to the water meter and so close to be very overhanging on the neighbors yard, to the torment of the borers over the years... the poor fella never stood a chance. i will miss that guy, but thats just how it goes in life sometimes i guess.
