Gardening Report

Today I'm going to share another gardening report with you, I'm showing you the latest developments.

This is my nettle that I like so much. It's stinging, so i have to be careful, always wear gloves but even so, I can only think of the benefits, not the unpleasant experience, which can be avoided if you're cautious. I'm lucky to have this nettle growing around the house and garden. It's wild. not cultivated.

I remember last year I read a post by @papa-pepper, who took some nettle from somewhere and planted it in his garden, hoping and praying it would spread and grow. Mine is growing without any care and I'm lucky to be able to get the ones in the neighborhood because people over there don't like nettle. I must look strange or funny or maybe both, the city girl, gathering nettle but I don't care. It's healthy, contains many nutrients ans makes a very taste soup or pottage.

If you go to the farmers market, you pay a fortune for just a handful of nettle and you don't even know where it comes from, might be from a very polluted area.

This is the white gooseberry, which I also love so much. These gooseberry bushes are new, maybe this is their third year they are already giving delicious, big, white fruits. Do you see those huge and dangerous spikes? Yes, gloves again :)

Currant is growing. We had red and white but mostly red. last year we had to clean the old stems, cut they back and renew the bushes. This year was not necessary to do it again but I had to cut out the wild blackberry stems. This is like a plague, it's a weed practically because it doesn't give fruits, but it has some very dangerous spikes and can make your life miserable. It grows near the currant bushes and needed to be cut out.

This is the lovage, a perennial aromatic herb that I use for soups and aromatic vinegar. It's not very popular I think.

The yellow plum tree is also blooming nicely. Can't wait to have those plums for jam.

I'm having nettle On Friday for lunch :).

Yay! I'm so glad to hear that. I'm not the only weirdo here 😁
Nettle is good, I love it and it's healthy.
What are you going to have? Soup or pottage?

Nettle ? what are the benefits of this herb? Very nice post.

WOW @erikah your research is sooo appreciated. my hubby and I have been constantly, since we met in 1969 looking for ways to treat without conventional medicine. I love hearing about curative foods/herbs, we are what we eat !! you go girl, you do know how to research . SMART

I agree, you are what you eat! And that determines your health.
Nettle is definitely something you don't want to neglect. I'm drinking nettle tea often and eating nettle soup as often as I can. You can harvest nettle if you have a place that is not polluted and put it in the freezer. It's very good.

Wow! gooseberry!

Yes, indeed, gooseberry.

I like to see this plant growing fertelizely..

Unfortunately I don't understand what you mean.

I mean that the nettle plants are growing green. I like it.

Oh, ok, I like it too.

What a wonderful garden report! I love nettle as well. Fresh, in teas...
You might want to fix your gardening tag - an extra i made its way in. Happens to me all the time 😀

Thank you very much dear @mariannewest, typo is fixed. I also like nettle tea but I buy that from the pharmacy. I think nettle is very healthy. 🙂

I am loving the photos of the spring growth and buds! Nice :) Good for you embracing the nettle! It is so tasty and nutritious :) I just seeded some nettle, hoping it will come up because there is none on this land yet.

Aww, thank you so much for the nice words. I hope you get some nice nettle. Good luck with it and have a nice day 😊
