Food is Free: All We Have to do is Plant the SeedsteemCreated with Sketch.

The Food is Free Project has evolved from a front yard garden to an open source movement of over 400 cities around the world. Each food sharing project is about growing and sharing food, but they all look a bit different. Some of us have front yards, others rooftops, or maybe just a balcony or a window. Join us and let's plant a world of abundance!

Here are some inspiring highlights from the Food is Free worldwide community this week:

"Through this world of trouble, we gotta feed one another #foodisfree #foodisfreeproject"
-cloudsandsea

"Whenever I feel down I can always count on veggies to brighten my day. #foodisfreeaustin #foodisfreeproject #texas #veggietattoo #cabbage"

"All are welcome to visit the FLAME GARDEN in Tecoma and pick from the vibrant seasonal edibles. The Food Is Free cupboard is for all members of our community to give and receive perishable and non perishable food freely, 24/7 #flamegarden #foodisfree #foodisfreetecoma #tecoma #foodisfreeproject"

"My babies doing well ❤️ #propagation #seeds #permaculture #organic #offgrid #homegrown #foodisfree"

"You know what's even better than the tasty and inexpensive November apples at the grocery store? The equally delicious free ones you find in the parking lot of a funeral home. Time for apple chips and apple-hawthorne wine.

"Perhaps even more satisfying than growing food is sharing the surplus. The joy and gratitude people show after learning #foodisfree made this experience more than worthwhile. I will miss all your smiling faces. #gardensthatgive #sharethesurplus #gardening #sharemarket #asheville #farmersmarket"

You are encouraged to take any ideas from #foodisfreeproject and tailor them to fit your community. We all have something to learn from each other and knowing we're not alone makes it much easier to take a step out into our community and plant the first seeds.

Take the first step and share your #foodisfree photos on social media so we can all stay connected and spread these ripples of inspiration far and wide. I'm excited for Steemit to allow us to grow and unite in ways we are yet to imagine!

Onward and Upward,
John

So inspiring! I am on board with you all the way. It is almost lemon overabundance time again, when I put out grocery sacks full on the curb. My front yard beans and artichokes failed this year, will try again.

Love it! Take photos and share them with #foodisfree on Steemit and other social media. We'd love to see your abundance and hear how it goes!

Will do! Steem OM!

Wowsers! Thank you!

Your propagated babies look so good!
I have been hearing about this "foodisfree" project on steemit quite often and I have even thought about contacting my local cooperative extension office about a community garden. Seems like a tall order, but with the right people and support, I think it can be a real opportunity.

Awesome! You should totally go for it! Start sharing your vision with friends and neighbors and swing by and talk with the extension office. Start being on the lookout for a good location near your home so that it makes for easy tending to the garden. Start small and it will grow and evolve a bit more each season. Stay in touch and share your photos along the way. You never know who you may inspire next!

what an awesome idea. Great for big cities with a big homeless issue.

Thank you for sharing the vision! I like to daydream of all the public spaces that could be providing us with an abundance of fruit and veggies. Fruit trees lining our streets, edible orchards in our parks and more resilient communities at the same time!

If you can find a community that respects it, perfect. I lived in portland and there were community gardens everywhere. Neighbors put their over produced items on the side walks. it was awesome.

Love it! I think most people will respect community gardens and food sharing initiatives. There may be that "bad apple"(pun intended, haha) once in a while but even if you just inspire one person, they can pass the ripple on to someone else, making waves together!

I am SO happy to see you post!! Welcome back #FoodIsFREE!!!!!!

Thanks for the message! Stoked to be plugging back in. :)

Good to see all the pictures of participants sharing the love.

So glad you resonate with the vision!

Nice topic dear @foodisfree appreciated

@foodisfree can i follow you ??

Of course. I'm excited to be on here more and connect with like minds and hearts! Be well.

Hey @foodisfree I was curious on what happened, why aren´t you posting anymore?

What a great project. I've never heard of this until now.

Thanks so much! It started as a small front yard garden, then grew as an experiment to line a city block in front yard gardens to build community. After blogging about it and going open-source, it has taken on a life of it's own. Search social media for #foodisfree and #foodisfreeproject to see what other people around the world are doing. It's exciting to be a part of this thriving community, planting seeds of peace and abundance.
