A Tomato's Highest Purpose
There is always an important question for gardeners to answer in the summer. What shall I do with the first ripe tomato?
My daughter elected to eat hers by chomping into it while leaning over the sink to catch the juice. Then she tried slices slathered in mayonnaise. Both methods are respectable ways to savor a good garden tomato.
The most fitting way to honor the efforts of the gardener and Mother Nature is to make a bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich. The mayonnaise is mandatory, avocado is optional, and cheese is strictly forbidden in my book.
