Why Steem? Good question! First of all: existing systems don't reward the creation on social impact. They pay people for doing something good, not for achieving results.
This is what we want to change. Long-term we'll set up a curation system enabling stakeholders, users and people with a high reputation to assess social impact created by projects. The impactful ones will receive the rewards - that's the idea. Doing this, we'll move towards a purpose-driven economy- making money follow social impact.
Secondly, Steem enables fast, cheap and seamless tranfer of funds while not wasting energy.
Thirdly, the Steem ecosystem is evolving very quick. You are building a community software, commerce is starting on Steem, onboarding initiatives are growing - all this will be very important to make normal users engage with crypto and to establish an SMT mid-term.
