"The Third Wave" by Alvin Toffler

Alvin Toffler is one of the most remarkable scientists of our time. Remarkable, because in the era of narrow specialization in science, he emerged as a universal scientist. Like the ancient Greek thinkers and the scientists of the European Renaissance, he is both a brilliant sociologist, economist, philosopher, psychologist, futurist, humanist and technician. The sphere of knowledge covered in his books is too wide. Of course it needs classification and categorization because otherwise Toffler's work could not exist and be beneficial in today's world. That's why Economic Sociology has chosen Toffler as one of its most advanced "minds" - a dynamic representative of the modern scientist. This, of course, is not accidental.

The subject of research in Toffler analyzes is mainly the socio-economic relations between people. They, in turn, are inextricably linked to all the areas of knowledge listed above. The explosive result of the combination of these "global" realms of thought is one of the most remarkable works of literary thought in the 20th century - the book "The Third Wave". The upcoming exhibition aims to analyze, formulate and examine from the point of view of the author (the exhibition, not the book) 30 put by Alvin Toffler these. That is why the upcoming text is divided into 30 chapters - the first unambiguously represents the overall concept of Toffler for the Third Wave of human civilization. All others follow the same meaning line and have a similar construction, namely - the chosen (according to the specific interests of the author) problems / those, arguments / of the book are presented in their meaningful content in a synthesized form, after which they are analyzed from the point of view a point of their significance to contemporary economic sociology, compared to the theses of other authors where appropriate and interpreted in terms of the personal position of the author of the course work.

The aim of the course is to clarify 30 separate theses from the book "The Third Wave". Clarification of one theses necessarily involves finding the author's statement on a particular issue, expressing a personal position on it (principle consent or disagreement) and defending that position. In order to achieve the objectives set, the course work is used with the means of analysis, observation, comparison and masculine conclusion. The nuances of personal opinion will not be avoided; on the contrary, they will be stimulated because a book lives its own life in the mind of every person who reads it.

What I remember from this book is the idea of the pro-sumer, which is exactly what society evolved into. In the past we were divided into consumers and producers - a small group producing and a large group consuming. In the realm of media this age of the pro-sumer has truly come to pass. Toffler also mentions the 'death of the generalist' (or polymath) as society requires more and more specialization. More and more I see Toffler's ideas come to pass. Thanks for the article!

Okay, you've piqued my interest but I am a bit confused. I very much like the open-endedness of analysing the past, present and future but without behaving as if he has a crystal ball and can see how things exactly play out. I am confused about what characterises this Third Wave actually. Is it a particular more holistic state of mind, a broader view of the connectedness of all things?

godflesh, you came out of nowhere and you are killing it in Steem with stunning content. This truly shows that when one is dedicated success does not take long to follow.

godflesh is a straight shooter and I am glad to see that he continues to give solid advice.
