The Scale of the Grenfell Tower fire prompts Prince William and Catherine, who are local Resident, to give temporary shelter to survivors.

Just over a week on from the Grenfell Tower fire in London’s, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Yes, the same borough where Prince Williams family live in Kensington Palace the home of the late Diana princess of Wales. The number so far dead or missing according to local residence is in excess of 150 men women and children. The inadequacy of the building has already been written about in detail. For example:-

  1. No sprinkler system
  2. No fire alarm
  3. Cladding around the building that was not fire resistance
  4. No fire hoses
  5. One locked fire exit,
  6. Carbon monoxide poison emitted from materials used in the building
  7. Stairwells with no emergency lighting
  8. Inadequate advice given to tenants to stay in their homes in the event of a fire
  9. No dry risers in the building allowing water to reach the higher floors in the event of a fire.
  10. No night watchman security to alert tenants to such tenants.

The list goes on and on and each day new revelations are exposed and the tragedy becomes more and more apparent that the riches borough in the United Kingdom failed in its duty of care to its most vulnerable citizens. This highlights the belief that to be a working person of modest means in such a rich borough is in away a crime. As someone said to me , “It is a crime to be poor in the United Kingdom in 2017.” I am inclined to agree many, many people in the UK are working but still cannot make ends meet since the financial crash of 2008. The crash caused by the big cabala of bankers created the problem, but the middle and working classes are paying for it.

So in conclusion the platitudes and clichés coming from the rich are enormous and they do genuinely care. Sympathising for the plight of those who have lost loved ones or those who are homeless, (which I think extend to thousands if you include the buildings surrounding Grenfell and it being such a densely populated area) is a nice gesture, but imagine when the Queen and her grandson, Prince William visited the effected, imagine if Prince William who lives about a ten minute drive away in Kensington Palace (that is at least six times the size (foot print) of the Tower), imagine if he offered shelter to just three of the homeless families for a short time. What the royal family does the rich tend to follow the trend, this gesture would have multiplied by the rich residence following the Princes lead and this would have solved the major issue of these grieving people not having a house and maybe push the council to end their indifference by their inaction and quickly source homes for these people.

But regrettably the Prince came saw gave a few nice words and left with the promise that he will return. I know what I am suggesting seems ridicules but my answer to that is, why? This should not be a tale of two cities in the 21st century.

Sort:

Buckingham palace is going to have a £300 million refurbishment, paid for by the taxpayers. These parasites don't care about normal people. All that they have has been stolen from people. We need to stop glorifying our rulers. There's nothing good about them.

Very true. The pretence of caring is so infuriating
