A massive shout out to the BeyondBitcoin community & @officialfuzzy for providing the Gridcoin community a room in their mumble server for free. :D
What is Gridcoin?
Gridcoin securely rewards BOINC computation on top of Proof of Stake. Reward allocation is distributed, not centralized unlike other distributed computing related cryptocurrencies.
I can say with after a couple of years dabbling in crypto, that our community is one of the most helpful teams in the game. That said, it gets tiring/monotonous typing the same thing 100 times in a day when helping people. So, we are introducing our first attempt at live voice chat support.
In the interest of keeping things easy, we will be holding it on Mumble, on the alternating Saturdays that we don't have the Gridcoin Community Hangouts, which have become quite development/marketing focused. All are welcome to join both... it's just people listening to the hangouts for news might not want to discuss how to setup wallets. Likewise, people needing to know the basics of setting up their wallet might be totally lost in the discussions about magunit, etc.
A few senior members have already expressed interest in helping people through voice chat, or even video chat, and this is only a scheduled test. If it gets popular and there is demand for help more than once a week, there's no reason noobs can't be in there all the time helping each other with what they've learned from other people. I completely encourage this behaviour. You learn what you don't know by teaching, and we all feel this will be a tool for progress. :D

How to join the Gridcoin Classroom
Step 1: Download Mumble. [Desktop, Android, iOS]
Step 2:
Step 3: Configure Mumble & join the server!

Address: mumble.grcnode.co.uk or mumble.beyondboinc.net (IP = 149.210.187.155)
Port: 64738
Username: Enter your username, try to pick one people will recognize you by - i.e. your IRC username
Password: w0rldCh@NG3rsUN!t3
Step 4: Join the Gridcoin channel!
Step 5: Configure your audio wizard & setup Push-To-Talk.

Great idea! I would totally be down for giving a few hours a week to help others install the wallet and get started with gridcoin. I am pretty new as well and don't get a lot of things around gridcoin, but as you said, I think that might help other beginners since I understand what one might have difficulties understanding.
Great idea. One question/suggestion, might be better to use Discord as it's a bit easier to setup/use for people that don't know anything about VoIP programs.
