A Superpower in 30 days (6).png

Yesterday, we learned the sounds and numbers of the Phonetic numbers method. Today we will learn how to use this ancient technique to serve our modern needs and easily remember pin-codes, birthdays, anniversaries, phone number, financial information and much more.

I've been waiting for today, I really want to know how to use this method. It seems that once you get this method down, you can memorize different number easily and get your brain power in a totally new level just practicing it.

Today is May 5th, and it is the twenty-seventh day of my 30-day "Superbrain" program by Jim Kwik.

In the previous 26 days, Jim taught different techniques to memorize things, shared exercises, hacks and lifestyle tips that improve brainpower, gave various effective ways to memorize names and vivid and memorable mental images, Jim also gave a great method learn foreign languages, words, also Jim shared a powerful technique to memorize texts word for word that he teaches famous actors, we started working with numbers and how to memorize them, and in the last lesson we started learning an ancient code called The Phonetic Numbers Method to turn nubers into words.

If you want to check out the summaries and learn the tips and techniques of the previous 25 days check out these posts - Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7,Day 8Day 9Day 10, Day 11, Day 12, Day 13, Day 14, Day 15, Day 16, Day 17, Day 18, Day 19, Day 20, Day 21, Day 22, Day 23Day 24Day 25, Day 26.

The Phonetic Numbers Method - How to use it?

In the previous lesson we learned the phonetic code of all the numbers from 0 to 9:

0 - S, Z sound Sa, Za
1 - T, D sound Ta, Da, Tha
2 - N sound Na
3 - M sound Ma
4 - R sound Ra
5 - L sound La
6 - J, soft G, Ch, Sh sound Ja, soft Ga(dja), Cha, Sha
7 - K, G, C sound Ka, Ga, Ca
8 - F, V sound Fa, Va
9 - P, B sound Pa, Ba

There are a few other rules to use the code -

  • The vowel letters have no meaning
  • H has no meaning
  • Double letters are considered one letter

Now, let's turn some words into numbers to understand the method, said Jim and offered a few examples:

Table - T is 1, A has no meaning, B is 9, L is 5, E has no meaning - we get the number 195.

Cat - C is 7, A has no meaning, T is 1 - Cat = 71.

Accord - A has no meaning, C is 7, the double C is considered one letter, O has no meaning, R is 4, D is 1 - Accord = 741

This method is used to turn number into words so let's begin with a few abstract examples -

72 - 7 is K/C/G and 2 is N, so the word you can use is Can, Cane, Gone, Kone.

584 - 5 is L, 8 is F/V, 4 is R, the word you can use is Loafer, Lover, Lever.

9573 - 9 is P/B, 5 is L, 7 is K/G/C, 3 is M, the words can be Ball Game, Phill Came.

To use this method you need to create an association with the meaning of the numbers, it is much easier for our brain to remember word and images of real things than abstract numbers.
For example, let's say you want to remember our bank pin - code 7491, the corresponding sounds are 7 - K/G/C, 4 - R, 9 - P/B, 1- T/D, a great word in this case will be Carpet. Now, once we decided what the word is we need to create the association, so let's imagine walking up to the ATM on a red carpet.
If you ever get stuck not remembering you pin - code, it will be easy once you imagine yourself on the red carpet and the numbers will float right up.
The biggest issue of this method is remembering the sounds for each digit and in the previous lesson, Jim gave a list of associations to use to memorize the sounds and the numbers easily.

Conclusion of day 27

This method is very interesting, but it takes a long time to create the words. For me, it is a great brain workout and Jim asked to create words for all the number from 1 - 100 as practice and I think when later today I will do this it will be much easier and intuitive to use this method.
With every day that passes my brain is working better an better, it feels kind of repetitive to say every day that I feel amazing, concentrated and focused. Gladly that is exactly the case.

Off to practice my super powers.

See you on Day 28.
