The Origins of Halloween

We all know what Halloween is. It is a event that takes place on October 31st. And you dress up. Of course, you have to be young. People don't give out candy to teenagers. There are Halloween parties. But do you ever wonder, "How did Halloween get created," or "Is Halloween a joke?" Here is how Halloween came to be.

First of all, the word Halloween dates to 1745. It comes from a Scottish term from All Hallows' eve, and it is the evening before All Hallows' Day. In Scots, eve means even, and it is contracted into even. It turned into Halloween, and there you have it for the name. The term of All Hallows' Eve is from 1556.

But where is the origin of Halloween?

It originated from the Gaelic Samhain harvest festival, and started in the 10th century. The 10th century was 900-1000. Meaning that it started on the last century before the 2nd Millennium. In my opinion, this was a good way to end the millennium.

Giving candy was a way to appease spirts. Wearing costumes was to disguise as the spirts. But it seems like in modern times, people wear Mario, FNAF, and other franchises. This was to just make the people smile.

Trick or treat was related to Samhain. Samhain was celebrated by Celtic people 2,000 years ago. As it grew, it spread and the origin became lost. Halloween was becoming "appeasing kids who dress up as characters." In my opinion, it now is to celebrate the characters and honor them.

This is all of Halloween, and we do not know what happens next. Maybe we will have Halloween for 3 days or more. We need to count on one thing, though. Evolution. Health also says something. Candy.
