RE: Announcing Haveyoubeenhere: the social media app for and by travelers [Proposal is live]

in #haveyoubeenhere4 years ago (edited)

Dear Mr. Shaik.
First of all, congratulations on this achievement. I downloaded the app and the first impression is that it is super-fast. (9MB!) The first screen shows how you want to log in: Steemconnect or FB. Is assume most people who are interested in this still don't know what STEEM is. Maybe put a link below with: "What is STEEM" with some Q&A on that page? Explaining the benefits of using the blockchain to post your content. I think you would be the first Dapp on the chain that does that.

I like how you use the word sustainable a couple of times. This is also not very common in an environment where most people think short-minded. To tackle the 'no revenue´ first months and to create an instant income; why not integrate affiliate links on some destinations? If people create a waypoint, they have an option to include the Tour/activity/excursion that they did over there. Like, miss @livinguktaiwan went on a booze cruise on PhiPhi Island, she adds the affiliate link which she can select from a menu based on the destination. You get a commission each time another traveller wants to have the same experience as her. (this is what you sell basically, an experience)

You can even take this one step further and give the author a percentage of the income her post makes by tracking the outgoing link from that post. This way the author is incentivised to make amazing content because the more people see her post, the more she can earn in perpetuity, not only the first 7 days of her posting. Partners to work with (I work with them in real life) GetYourGuide - Booking - Viator, but I am sure there are more in the world, I just don't need others.

I wish you loads of success

Thank you for the kind words. I personally still want everything to be smoother, but well, one step at a time kinda thing! In regards to the Steem Q&A, while it could help educate people, we don't necessarily feel our users have to know that behind the scene Haveyoubeenhere is a blockchain platform. We feel the way to move forward is to make blockchain integration as seamless as possible. But it is something we could keep in mind.

I agree that sustainability is often overlooked and I hope we can start creating a change in the mindset of project owners to move away from short term personal profit and look at long term potential. It's hard to expect this from a user, but in my opinion project owners should be held accountable for this.

We are currently looking in different referral models, but these are fairly long term, when we really want to start to grow at a rapid pace. It would definitely be interesting to work together with the bigger names in the travel sector, but again, one step at a time. First we should create the best travel social media experience we can!

Thank you for your feedback, it is much appreciated!
