OVULATION- Facts and Fallacies.

Hi Everyone, here in our blog story today, we are going to talk about ovulation, the truth about it as well as the fallacies surrounding it.

OVULATION is simply the release of an egg from one the ovaries of a woman. When the egg is released, it goes down up to the Fallopian tube where it could get fertilized by a sperm.

FACTS ABOUT OVULATION

• Ovulation does not occur during or after menstruation but rather it occurs BEFORE menstruation.

• Ovulation time is the period you're most likely to get pregnant and not menstruation time.

• Ovulation usually lasts for a day and the exact timing is different from woman to woman.

• For women with the usual 28 days menstrual cycle, ovulation could take place between the 13th and the 15th day.

• For women whose cycle is between twenty seven(27) to (34) days, ovulation could take place between the 13th to the 20th day.

• Some vital signs to also know that a woman may be ovulating includes:
  -The vagina begins to secrete a thick and cloudy cervical mucus
  -There may be a rise in her early morning temperature.
  -There will be an increase in luteinizing hormone. This hormone is basically what gives the order for the eggs to be
  released.

• In ovulation, there is something usually referred to as FERTILITY WINDOW. Now pay close attention. If you're looking to get pregnant this is going to be important. The fertility window is a period when you are most fertile(able to get pregnant). For women with the 28-day cycle, the fertility period is usually between the 8th day to the 15th day from your last menstruation

• For those with 27-34 days cycle, the fertility period is usually from day 8 to day 20 from your last menstruation.

• Also, if you're looking to not get pregnant, note your fertility days and ensure you don't allow any sperms into your vagina on those days.

Ovulation kits for ovulation tests are usually sold over the counter in drug stores. You could get one and use in determining when you're ovulating.
