Researchers Look To Investigate Whether Or Not Grass-Fed Beef Is Any Better For You

in #health5 years ago

You've probably seen the headlines at one point or another over the years, listing meat as a potential carcinogen and insisting that eating large amounts of processed meat likely causes cancer.

There is a great deal of scientific research supporting this narrative, it demonstrates that processed meat has been linked to cancer. These meats can be found to contain potentially harmful ingredients: dextrose, nitrates, formaldehyde, and more.

But not grass-fed meat...

There are different qualities of beef and other meat options out there, such as organic, free range, and grass-fed etc. Some have wondered whether or not researchers might get different results if they sought to investigate the benefits or detriments of quality meat, specifically grass-fed meat and whether or not that too isn't good for you.

New Zealand researchers are now investigating...

Researchers at the University of Auckland's Liggins Institute will be looking to answer the question of whether or not grass-fed might be any better for you and are hoping to potentially reverse the conventional wisdom by demonstrating that red meat could offer benefits if you opt for a quality product.

They've recruited a group of male participants between the ages of 35-55 to eat free grass-fed meat at least 3x a week for 2 months.

The participants have been assigned to 3 different groups: grass-fed Wagyu, grain-finished beef, or a vegetarian option.

The researchers will be seeking to investigate exactly how complex fats from high-quality unprocessed meats might impact heart health.

The study results, funded by AgResearch and in partnership with Firstlight Foods, are expected to be released sometime later this year.

@doitvoluntarily, unprocessed fresh meat does not produce cancer regardless of its diet, what it produces is uric acid and other diseases related to fat.
Processed meat will produce cancer depending on the added products for its conservation.
Thank you very much for sharing this news dear friend
I wish you a prosperous week

Great discussion here. So much interesting unlearned aspects of true health and the power of organic. Good power and energy to the research.

Well.. in my (not-so-scientific) opinion, it does taste better :)

Grass fed is better 100% True .
These animals where designed to eat grass not corn or anything els. So there enzymes evolved to digest grass. Etc etc.
They are finally selling butter made out of grass fed cows milk.

Very interested to find out the results of this study.

I was hypothesize that unprocessed meats, the natural foods we were meant to eat with veggies alike, improve our overall health. In moderation of course... so hopefully they may even be able to discover both the negative and maybe positive effects from excess in diet.
