Kleptomania- A strange and very rare Human Disorder that grows the urge for stealing items. People with this disorder start stealing items which without any financial gain or need of it.

First described in 1816, kleptomania is classified in psychiatry as an impulse control disorder.Some of the main characteristics of the disorder suggest that kleptomania could be an obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorder.

The disorder is frequently under-diagnosed and is regularly associated with other psychiatric disorders, particularly anxiety and eating disorders, and alcohol and substance abuse. Patients with kleptomania are typically treated with therapies in other areas due to the co morbid grievances rather than issues directly related to kleptomania.

Symptoms:

Inability to resist urges to steal items you do not need
Feeling pleasure or relief leading up to the theft
Feeling anxiety or tension leading up to theft
Urge is powerful and people cannot resist the urge to steal
Episodes of kleptomania occur spontaneously
The items have no value and the person can afford them
Urges to steal may come and go
