Rosemary or Rosmarinus officinalis(rosmarinus the healer)

story

It can be found especially in South Europe and it reaches up to 1.5 meters high.

It is said that this herb took its name when Virgin Mary put her mantle on the plant and the next morning its flowers had turn in blue color . Therefore they called it "Rose of Mary".

Ancient Hellenes considered it as a gift from Goddess Aphrodite . Students were wearing wreaths of it as it was helping them in memory and concentration.

In the elder years it was used as incense and therefore it was also called incence tree.

The drink of it, combine with terivinthin and kedros is considered as elixir and was called Hungary's Queen water.

Consists of :

essential oil, rosemarinic acid, flavonoids, tanines, rosemaricin, diterpens.

Healing action

-Rosemary stimulates the blood circulation to the brain and therefore it helps in better memory and concentration.
-Helps in headaches and migraines .
-Helps in hair growth if it is combined with nettle's roots and sorrel's roots left in alcohol .
-Helps against soft or middle depression .
-Helps in arthrosis rheumatisms.
-Crushing leaves ,heal wounds.
-Drink of it helps against faints and dizziness .
-Fresh crushed leaves put on haemorrhoids makes them dry.
-Helps against overwork or weakness symptoms.
-Boiled with wine helps in sleep.
-It's considered as anti-bacterial, antifungal, antirheumatics, heart tonic , eyes tonic .
-Helps against diabetes.

Some uses according to elders

-It is used in wine production and also in Feta cheese and smoking meats because of its anti-microbe charachteristics.
-it pushes away bugs from nearby to it plants.
-It is used as an aromatic in fish or meat cooking.
-Burn its sticks and make them dust . Use a soft cloth and wash your teeth with it to heal them and make them white.

Avoid it :

-If you are pregnant
-In big doses can cause poisoning
