Avoiding Unhealthy Eating at Christmas Holiday Events

in #health6 years ago (edited)

In the course of the year, there are a whole lot of socioeconomic activities most people engage themselves in, so much so that, they barely find time to rest, workout or even eat to satisfaction (as they wish). Christmas parties then become 'eat-till-your-belly-hurts' to these folks since it is the only opportunity to add some weigth to their self-assumed skinny selves before the year finally comes to an end.

Do you find it difficult to make healthy choices at such events? Do you want to avoid holiday weight gain? Don't worry much; below are some tips to help you make healthful food choices at Christmas holiday parties.

The first tip is to that you should ensure to attend such events without starving. Eat a pastry or some fruit before you go. A meatpie or two fingers of banana (medium-sized) is a great snack because it’s portable and has lots of fiber to help fill you up.

Secondly, before you grab any food on the buffet table, you have to know and consider all the various foods available then select the food(s) that will meet your dietary needs or health status. For intance: a diabetic person must know that candies, soft drinks and biscuits with lots of sugars are out of the choice of foods to select. It is also good to consume low carbs meals in order to prevent holiday weight gain.

Also, you have to promise yourself to eat vegetables-based foods rather than foods high in fat and cholesterol. Foods such as pork with fries must be avoided and rather consume pastries with a stash of vegies, beans and lean meat.

Avoid excessive alchoholic intake during such events. You'll rather need to take in lots of water (at least, one full glass will do) to stay hydrated. The trick to avoid excess eating of junk foods is to focus on the event and not the food, by networking with the people around. Well, be sure to be satisfied enough with what you eat so that you don't go home to eat a lot more.

A healthy life is priceless so don't make a mess of your health by eating carelessly during tgis festive season.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance to all steemians!.
