Not knowing the right things about your natural hair can make it difficult to take good care of it especially in Africa
Also, with the boom in natural Hair products it's very important to know the product that is good for your hair and the ones you should avoid.
In this Post, I will be sharing what I have learned with caring for natural hair in this part of the world.

1.Use A Natural Based Shampoo
Because of the environment we live in, our natural hair is brittle and damages easily especially with chemicals.
The best way to know this, is to make sure your shampoo doesn't contain sulfates.
Sulfate based shampoo dry out your hair and makes it unhealthy after long use.

2. Use A Natural Based Conditioner
Conditioners contain oils that help mosturize your hair after washing with shampoo.
I'll recommend you use shampoos and conditioners of thesame product.
If possible buy products specifically for natural African hair.

3.Moisturize Your Hair Always
Consider the way you drink water everyday, so also your hair needs to be mosturized everyday. Before you start looking for moisturisers, start the natural way with water, olive oil, coconut oil, avocado butter, Shea butter etc..these natural moisturisers will nourish, Moisturize and improve your hair growth. Try to do this every day even if it's just water, make sure to keep your hair hydrated!

4.Protect Your Hair Ends.
Try to trim your hair at intervals, between (3-4months) to get rid of split ends and allow your hair to grow properly.
Also, avoid very tight braids, protect your hair when you want to sleep, use silk scarf or caps to cover your hair etc...

5.Avoid Frequent Hair Wash.
Lots of people prefer to wash their hair all the time. But, this is not good because it leads to hair breakage and loss of natural hair oils, making it hard and dry.
If you wash your hair daily, that's too frequent instead of that, wash once in a week!
If you notice your hair breaks every time you wash, then switch to washing once in two weeks.

6.Air Dry Your Hair
After washing, use towel to dampen and allow your hair dry with natural air. Avoid blow dryers and excess heat because it weakens the hair and leads to more damages. If for any reason, you need to use a dryer, set it to the lowest and coolest point to minimise heat.

7. Use Wigs!

Wigs are Beautiful, simple and helps to protect your hair from the sun which dehydrates your hair. They also make you beautiful and help manage your natural hair especially when you are unable to visit the saloon. , try to get more than one wig and remember you also need to take care of your wigs.

Hope this Post helps you care more for your natural hair!
