7 Snot Spewing Sneeze Videos (Some in Slo Mo)

The flu season is sadly upon us. And whether we like it or not, if you haven’t caught the flu yet, most everyone comes close to getting it, from as little as a simple conversation or a misfortunate, casual step into the wrong environment.

Scientists, tell us that the best way to “broadcast” the flu is through that nose tickling, head jarring, your face just became a launch pad for infection kind of explosion, commonly known as a Sneeze (bless you).

Here is a definition: A sudden involuntary expulsion of air from the nose or mouth due to irritation of one’s nostrils.

Air? Any sneeze we ever sneezed catapulted not air, but snot, spit or phlegm (love that word) from deep inside our mortal coil. As if it was meant as some sort of personal projectile of our disgusting, inner body fluids, public and for everyone, within three to twenty feet away.

It’s snot cool. But shot in super slo mo and mixed with classical music, it’s almost a magical experience. (no it’s snot).

The science of a sneeze is actually interesting. Yes, people really get paid to analyze stuff like sneezes, but we hear it’s sticky work.

SciFri interviewed MIT’s Lydia Bourouiba, she makes a living studying the sneeze and you may be surprised to find out that it’s snot what it seems?
