Lumps in the Lungs: Is It Cancer?

in #health6 years ago

The lump is often seen in the X-ray result as "mass", "nodule", "nodularity", "opacity" or "lesion". Often, lung tumors are seen when a patient has chest X-rays for symptoms such as cough or difficult breathing. There are also occasions when it comes to exclusively seeing an executive checkup or a yearly examination of those applying for work even if the patient does not feel well.

There are many different possible causes for the presence of "lumps" in chest X-rays, such as pneumonia, lung, lung abscess, tuberculosis and fungal infection. There is also a true lymph node or noncancerous such as hamartoma. But an important diagnosis to investigate is cancer. It can be primary lung cancer, metastatic lung cancer that spreads from cancer to other parts of the body, or other types of cancer such as lymphoma, sarcoma and mesothelioma.
If you find a "lump" in the chest X-ray, it is important to see the doctor immediately to investigate the cause. The doctor will take your medical history and make you a physical examination. X-rays are also characterized by the appearance of features that look like benign or more cancerous.

Depending on the diagnosis of the doctor, he may make additional tests to confirm his diagnosis such as CT scan, bronchoscopy (lung endoscopy) and biopsy. Here in the Philippines where TB is cold, it often produces a sputum AFB test.
Do not ignore any lump in chest X-rays especially if you have a history of strong smoking or symptoms that are not missing or worsening. See your doctor immediately.
