There is so much research has been done about the impact of drinking coffee. Some research reveals its good properties, while others highlight the bad effects of caffeinated beverages.

A new study published in JAMA is worthy of attention because of the huge sample size of half a million people. The results reinforce the notion that a regular coffee drink helps one live longer.

Based on research, drinking a cup of coffee daily lowers the risk of premature death by eight percent. Drinking six to seven cups lowered 16 percent of the risk and more than eight cups a day suppressed a 14 percent risk.

The results obtained after analyzing 500 thousand respondents during the 10-year study period, precisely 2006 to 2016. Participants were asked to answer questions about the history of health, including smoking and drinking alcohol.

Of the half million people, as many as 14,600 participants died during the course of the study. This figure also became one of the findings observed researchers in determining the relationship between coffee and long life.

Lead researcher, Dr Erikka Loftfield, said the assumption was based on observational study findings. Additional studies are needed to better understand the explanations and health outcomes of the coffee drinking routine.

"Our study provides further evidence that drinking coffee can be part of a healthy diet offers a guarantee to coffee drinkers," said Loftfield who is also a researcher at the US National Cancer Institute.
