Pilot programme to improve elderly chronic disease management launched in Singapore (mobi health news)
- Singapore-based digital health startup WhiteCoat has announced a partnership with on-demand home caregiving services platform Homage to launch a pilot telehealth programme that complements home-based care.
- The programme focuses on improving disease management of chronic diseases and conditions (hypertension, hyperlipidemia and diabetes) which are common among elderly patients.
- Bryan Koh, CEO and founder of WhiteCoat, said, “Ultimately, we hope that this programme can help elderly patients to receive timely and affordable medical attention from our dedicated team of doctors, in the comfort of their homes. Elderly patients may not know how to use telehealth on their own, but with the assistance of Homage’s care professionals, they’ll be able to access on-demand care.”
Analysis and Comments
- It’s interesting to see how telemedical solutions are increasingly paired with home-based care, i.e. implemented as a complementary solution rather than stand-alone, particularly when the focus is on elderly patients who might struggle with using technological solutions on their own.
- But it’s not just when elderly patients are the focus: Amazon, for example, recently launched a pilot programme called Amazon Care which includes video and text visits with clinicians, as well as in-home care services for its employees
