What is Date Palms/Phoenix dactylifera and characteristics of Date Palms

Phoenix dactylifera, commonly known as Dates or Date Palms, and it is flowering plant species in the palm family, Date Palms fruit produces date palms

Date Palms tree are mainly grown for its well known sweet fruits and these fruits are consumed worldwide because of its medical use

And its leaves will grow up to 4 to 6 meters, and one leaf will have around 150 gums and these gums will grow up to 50cm

These fruits are being divided according to their taste and color and size, some of the date palms can be eaten rawly and some are being eaten once it has been dried and warmed

and all this Phoenix dactylifera fruits contains medicinal characteristics that help in healing.

And these fruits are more liked by the children's and old age peoples for its well-known taste hence it is being used as ingredients in many recipes

These date palms are being grown more in Arab countries because date palms are suitably cultivated more in the desert area(which has more humidity).

These date palms are most importantly used in preparation of Unani medicine, Ayurveda medicine, and is also used in English medicine

And in India Date Palms are not being grown more because the climate doesn't support it, hence date palms are being imported from the other countries

Arab peoples use more date palms fruits because it will not be spoiled easily if it is kept year together also,

According to Fossil records, Date Palms may be existed for at least more than 50 million years.

Date Palms are cultivated more for its edible sweet fruit, it's exact place of origin is not been found, but it seems to come from Iran,

And it is considered to be originated from Egypt & Mesopotamia, & these Date Palms are mainly cultivated across North Africa, the Middle East, Iran, Iraq, Arabia, United States, California and in South Asia(India, Pakistan, etc), and they are being grown more in Dessert area like Rajasthan(India)

Date Palms can take 4-8 years after planting to produce proper fruit.
