California Mountain Adventures - Circle Mountain
Welcome to this edition of
California Mountain Adventures!!
In this adventure we visit the San Gabriel mountains to take a short hike to the top of Circle Mountain!
I wanted to get the kids (my 2 dogs) out for a short hike. So I threw a few things in a pack and loaded the dogs into the truck and off we went. We drove up into the Cajon Pass and caught highway 138 over to Lone Pine canyon road which we followed to to the top of the canyon. At the crest of the road is a turnout which is where we began our hike to Circle Mountain!! Circle mountain is a 6,785' mountain on the north eastern edge of the San Gabriel mountains just east of Swarthout Valley and the small town of Wrightwood. Although it's not the biggest or most exciting mountain around it's always a great choice for a fun easy hike with wonderful views.
Making the climb up Circle mountain. It's a short hike, but the climb is pretty steep!

My Skinny girl is a good hiker!
The marker at the summit
As the name implies Circle mountain is a rounded mountain with a big broad summit. But if you take the time to hike around to the different sides you can get some really great views of Stone Basin, the High Desert, the Cajon Pass, Lone Pine canyon, Wrightwood, and the San Gabriel high country! As the hike is fairly short we spent lots of time walking around on top checking out ALL the views.

After checking out all the views and enjoying a nice lunch while watching all the trains and the little cars going up and down in the Cajon pass way down below us, we headed back down the way we came. And that's it for this hike! The kids and I had a lot of fun and we hope you enjoyed seeing the photos of our adventure!!
