My Dad & Vietnam

in #history6 years ago

Dad passed when I was 14 in a free driving accident. As I got older I always wished I could ask him questions about his life at my age.

Today I found an old leather pouch filled with stained documents...

It was all his records from his Navy Service. Squadron number and a list of the names he served with.
15 missions in a P3 Orion Airplane that searched for submarines.

With names, dates, and locations I feel like a part of me is no longer lost to history.

It's a wonderful weekend discovery. It feels like treasure touching this old stained paperwork from the 1960's

I'm sorry to hear about your father, but really glad you were able to dig this up. I've been collecting war memorabilia for a while and find this stuff so fascinating. It's even more powerful when it's attached to somebody you knew and loved. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Brandon. Yea, it was really cool to look through. I went out to dinner with my sister and we went through all the info and looked up some youtube videos to get a feel for what he was actually doing day to day. It was really cool. I appreciate your comment.

These are the monuments and moments that you cherish your whole life. Having lost father at such early age would have made you strong. You have seen much more than most of the people.
