Amasya

According to researchs, Amasya was first used as a city by the Hittites. Due to its geographical location, Amasya has tried to conquer many different states. In 280 BC Amasya was conquered by the kingdom of Pontus. And for a while Amasya was the capital of the kingdom of Pontus.

In 70 BC Amasya was conquered by the Roman Empire. While many states tried to conquer Amasya, these states failed. And Amasya has been a city of Roman and Byzantine empires for many years.

In 1071, Amasya was conquered by the Seljuk State. And in later years Amasya changed hands between many different Turkish states. In 1393 Amasya was conquered by the Ottoman Empire. After the breakup of the Ottoman Empire, Amasya has been a city of the Republic of Turkey.
