KANUNİ SULTAN SÜLEYMAN
Osmanlı’nın en uzun süre tahta kalan padişahıdır. Tamı tamına 46 sene, Osmanlı’nın yükselme dönemi padişahları arasında yer alan kanuni. Osmanlı hükümdar lığının sınırlarını genişletmiştir. Yaptığı savaşlar ve zekasıyla savaş meydanlarından zaferlerle ayrılmıştır.
Bunun yanı sıra muhibbi mahlasıyla şiirlerde yazmıştır.
1533’de Avusturya kralı ile Osmanlı devleti arasında İstanbul antlaşması yapıldı. İbrahim paşa ile. Bu antlaşmayla Avusturya arşidükü Osmanlı Devleti sadrazamına eşit sayıldı. Böylece Avrupa’nın siyasi üstünlüğü Osmanlı imparatorluğunun eline geçmiş oldu.
1538’ de haçlılarla Preveze deniz savaşı yapılmıştır. Ayrıca bu savaşın yıl dönümü Türkiye cumhuriyetin de Donanma günü olarak kutlanır.
ABD kongre binasında Kanuni Sultan Süleyman’nın potresi yer almakta.
