10 - Atlantic Slave Trade: 15 Million People Killed!
The Atlantic (or Trans-Atlantic) slave trade began as the 16th Century, reached its peak in the 17th Century and ended in the 19th Century. The motivation behind this trade is the need for cheap labor power in Europe and the new continent America.With the industrial revolution, both consumption and production increased greatly.This supply-demand balance has also been tried to be achieved with people brought from the land and especially from West Africa.It is estimated that 4 out of every 10 people taken to slave ships died due to ill-treatment.
9 - Kubilay Khanate War & Transition to Ming Dynasty: 30 Million People Killed!
The Kubilay or Yuan dynasty is the least ruling family in China; is less than a century. But the effect is great: The darkest years of Chinese history were under the rule of the Kublai Dynasty. Kubilay is a Mongol and the grandchild of Genghis Khan. At this stage, millions of people have died because of internal confusion, famine and cruel management measures. Later, the Ming Dynasty also took strict measures to maintain order, and over 30 million people lost their lives in a short period of time like 2 centuries.
8 - An Lushan Rebellion: 36 Million People Killed!
The insurrection that took place between 755 and 769 begins with General Lushan declaring himself emperor in North China. The confusion with the intermingling of the Arabs, the Göktürks, and the Soğdurs grows and in a very short time 36 million people lose their lives.
7 - Taiping Uprising: 40 Million People Killed!
As history goes on, the destructions are even bigger; the reason for this was the development of the war apparatus and thus the easier killing of human beings. The Taiping Uprising is also one of the worst events in world history.
The peasant named Hong Xiuquan claims to be his brother and declares his independence against the Qing Dynasty, which ruled China at that time in 1850, along with many supporters. The Taiping State, which has been strengthened by the material and spiritual support of the French, British, and Americans, has even organized a voyage to Beijing; but it has failed. The 14-year uprising has also killed 40 million people.
6 - Great Chinese Famine: 43 Million People Killed!
We are again in China: this time 20th century and communism is reigning. China; it makes an effort called "great breakthrough" between 1958 and 1961 in order to confront the modern world's great empires such as the US, the Soviet, and the UK. This breakthrough, also known as agrarian reform, has caused a major shortage in China, 43 million people have lost their lives. This time zone, as the Chinese say, is known as "painful years". Yes, China has made a huge breakthrough and has become one of the world's largest economies; but this has cost many, many innocent lives.
5 - Soviet Destruction: 49 Million People Killed!
Soviet life is another consequence of wanting to change a lot of things in a short time. The Soviets entered into a power struggle with Germany in the beginning and later with the United States, and many sociological and economic reforms have gone into this rekeying. The people pay the price for it as usual.
Between 1917 and 1953, millions of people lost their lives because of civil war, famine, forced migration. Of course, the lion's share in the death of so many people belongs to Stalin. Particularly those living in Ukraine are the darkest moments of human history. Because of the famine many people have had to eat other dead people.
In the meantime, it is the most irrational of the world that Stalin is nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1948.
4 - Mongolian Invasion: 60 Million People Killed!
Genghis Khan and his sons have realized the greatest invasion of the history of the world. The Mongols, who invaded 16% of the world, obtained the second largest empire in history. Such a great infestation and such a great ambition has also caused millions of people to die. Mongol invasions continued during Genghis and his sons; even if it continues for a while, we can understand with simple mathematical calculations that there will be no human in the world.
3 - World War I: 65 Million People Killed!
Above, as time progresses, we have stated that human beings are more cruel. One of the greatest proofs of this is the First World War.
Until that time, there has never been a battle of such a large scale, so many states involved. I will not go into details about the cause of the war; we already learned a lot about it since primary school. I can only say that there is a global mind-set on this war where greed, hatred and lack of empathy rise up.
Nearly 30 countries and various ethnic, sectarian, religious groups have been involved in this war for only 4 years. And in 4 years, 65 million people have lost their lives.
2 - World War II: 72 Million People Killed!
After about 20 years from the First World War, the defeated side was seeking a rematch from the new side. Not very many, only a few people's personal greed and superfluousness spoiled the whole world and the greatest mind-set of our human history was realized. Everyone began to be massacred without discrimination of civilian, infant, child, woman, old, disabled people. Sometimes they were killed, even knowingly. Hitler did the greatest slaughter in this war, no doubt. But the civilian massacres that Japan made in China, or the atomic bomb that America threw into Hiroshima and Nagasaki, are also the darkest and tragic events of human history. The war lasted 6 years; but 72 million people died; as well as the most inhumane ways that may come to mind.
1 - European Colonization Through America: 100 Million People Killed!
While the European Continent developed weapons and war technology to kill each other better; the American natives, who had a more peaceful life than Europe at the time, could not have improved so much. It was too heavy for the locals to have their weapons technology behind. While the Europeans settled down, the locals were killing.
However, some of these deaths were contagious diseases from Europe. Americans' metabolism is not ready for diseases where Europeans are immunized or vaccinated. That's why millions of Native Americans have lost their lives.
