In the genus Brookesia small chameleons are placed, among them the species B. desperata, B. exarmata, B. karchei, B. ramanantsoai, B. tristis, B. confidens, B. peyrierasi, B. micra, B. minima, B. tedi and B. tuberculata, but recently, a new species of tiny chameleon was assigned to the genus. It is a male measuring 21.6 mm total length and 13.5 mm snout-vent length, which is now the smallest known adult Brookesia, compared to the previously smallest specimen, a male of B. micra at 22.2 mm total length and 15.3 mm snout-vent length. The new diminutive chameleon was dubbed B. nana because of its nano size.
En el género Brookesia se sitúan los camaleones pequeños, entre ellos las especies B. desperata, B. exarmata, B. karchei, B. ramanantsoai, B. tristis, B. confidens, B. peyrierasi, B. micra, B. minima, B. tedi y B. tuberculata, pero recientemente se ha asignado al género una nueva especie de camaleón diminuto. Se trata de un macho que mide 21,6 mm de longitud total y 13,5 mm de longitud del hocico, que es ahora el Brookesia adulto más pequeño conocido, en comparación con el espécimen más pequeño anterior, un macho de B. micra con 22,2 mm de longitud total y 15,3 mm de longitud del hocico. El nuevo camaleón diminuto fue bautizado como B. nana por su nano tamaño.

The adult male was discovered in northern Madagascar, where an adult female was also discovered. The female is considerably larger than male. The female measures 28.9 mm total length and 19.2 mm snout-vent length. Just two adult specimens.

A characteristic feature of the male is that it has a large genital organ measuring 2.5 mm, and it is possible that, the smaller males may simply need larger genitalia to allow for a better mechanical fit that makes successful copulation with the much larger females possible.

Researchers recruited domestic cats that regularly hunted and captured wild animals and brought them home. They modified their diet by supplying them with a commercial grain-free food in which meat was the principal source of protein, and 5- to 10-minutes daily of playing with objects (with owner using a “fishing” toy and a “mouse” toy), among other variables evaluated, in order to determine the total numbers of prey animals (mammals and birds) captured and brought home by cats.

Some cats may hunt more because they are stimulated to address a deficiency in their food provided. Freshly prepared meat was the main source of proteins and the food lacked grains, meat meal or rendered meat.
