i am grateful to @yousuharoonkhan sir for explaining about centralized and decentralized social media platforms in great detail. this is my homework post for the given lecture. i hope you will leave this post learning something.

Write the definition of Decentralized and Centralized Social Media Platforms in your own words## Centralized social media platforms :

Centralized social media platforms are those social platforms that are created: authorised by a central authority, a company, individual entity and influenced by them. On centralized social media, a user does not have full authority over his/her account. The social account on a centralized social media platform can be hacked,misused or lost at any time.it can also be suspended/deleted by them. Freedom of expression is not appreciated and the users are entirely influenced by the platform making sure users follow their rules and regulations.
Popular examples of centralized social media platforms are Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and TikTok.

Decentralized social media platforms:

Decentralized social media platforms are those social platforms that are not controlled by an individual or a company instead of the platforms where users are in full control of their social accounts.ُ, unlike centralized social media platforms, decentralized social media platforms are incapable of deleting, hacking and dictating user's behaviour. Not only the users get full freedom of expression and meet like-minded people exercising social activities but also get paid for creating content and driving traffic.
One of the first and most popular decentralized social media platforms is steemit.

Differences between centralized and decentralized social media platforms :

Centralized social media platforms are controlled by its owners
Decentralized social media platforms are controlled by its users only
Freedom of expression is not appreciated on centralized social media platforms
Freedom of expression is appreciated by decentralized social media platforms.
User accounts are likely to get deleted,hacked or watched.
Users accounts are immune to hacking, deleting or dictations.

Considering the ease of use and popularity of centralized social media platforms, we cannot ignore the growing popularity of decentralized social media platforms.
In the past few years, surveys have suggested a downward trend in new users on centralized social media platforms, creating a huge vacuum that is being filled by decentralized social media platforms as steemit.

Why do I think decentralized social media is the future?

I believe that decentralized social media platforms will take the lead as these platforms are hitting the pain point of users. Users in today's world will prefer a social platform where they are in control and their information is safe. where their personal data is not stolen to sell it further or moderate the user's behaviour.

Users have full freedom of expression to make conversations with like-minded people and debate on any topic while on twitter and facebook, users' conversations are strictly moderated. Sensitive topics are forbidden to discuss on twitter and Facebook .

On steemit, users are appreciated by rewarding them with crypto coins like steem or steem which they can convert into dollars or their local currencies. Many users are making a living out of steemit.

Fully secured :

On Steemit , users have no fear of losing their accounts, getting suspended or blocked by anyone. In Fact they have full control over their social accounts and data. Steemit social media has changed the lives of millions across the world. Hundreds of communities are being made and content is being created. What differentiates Steemit from other platforms is that the underprivileged communities have their own communities and their voice is being heard.
Thousands of users get rewards daily and get monetary help through steemit.
Charity work is carried out through steemit. Many people in Africa were able to access clean water with the help of steemit.
Apart from charity, many young users from underprivileged countries, who are hardworking but did not have any opportunity to earn a living. Through steemit, they are able to create awareness as well as pay their bills.
Steemit does not only help promote the decentralised.

We can make money on steemit social media through various methods.
First and foremost, creating content is the best way to earn money on steemit.
There are different communities where we can participate in content, create food recipes, write about crypto currency, raise social issues or become a student of crypto academy. All these different forms of content can help us make money on steemit.

Another way of earning money through steemit is that we can sell things on communities like sell for steem where users can sell physical products and in return get steem.
