Struggle Of Life

The days came, the days went

A struggle ensued at every bent
Nothing came easy, nothing was for free
The harder you look for joy, the more pain you see
Life, it goes on, they say
You don't make it out unscathed
You're born out of nowhere, one fine day
Like a present to earth, gift-wrapped.
There begins your wayward journey
Of asserting some semblance of control over life
It's an uphill battle from here
Full of resistance, mockery and strife.
Jostling through crowds,
Pushing through queues,
You try to make your mark
Try to come up with a ruse.
And amidst all the deafening noise
The masks, the betrayals and ploys
You are bound to lose yourself, made to forget
But your wails are drowned with loud trumpets
Trumpets of society, of capitalism
Of should-be's and you-must's
Life was never cakewalk
Never fair, nor kind, nor just.
As the end of the road nears, you look back at the crossroads
Wonder where the other roads would've taken you
But the grass is always greener, looking back,
And your spirit, was always blue.
