| Прогулка по выборгскому парку Монрепо 11 августа 2017 года только началась, когда случайно заметив какое-то копошение на дорожке, мы остановились и стали наблюдать. | A walk through the Vyborg Monrepos park on August 11, 2017 had just begun, when we accidentally noticed some swarming on the path, we stopped and began to observe. |
| На земле шёл поединок не на жизнь, а на смерть. | On earth there was a duel for life and death. |
| Бились оса и стрекоза. Причём, сначала я подумала, что это стрекоза кого-то поймала и собирается позавтракать. | A wasp and a dragonfly were fighting. Moreover, at first I thought that the dragonfly had caught someone and was going to have breakfast. |
| Но, приблизив объектив и рассмотрев происходящее поближе, я с ужасом поняла, что оса уже практически откусила голову красотке-стрекозе. Стрекозу так жалко стало, мы с подругами переглянулись: Может быть, надо вмешаться? | But, bringing the lens closer and taking a closer look at what was happening, I realized with horror that the wasp had already practically bit off the head of the beautiful dragonfly. I felt so sorry for the dragonfly, my friends and I looked at each other: Maybe we should intervene? |

| Приехав домой, я поискала информацию и обнаружила в Интернете подобные фотографии и видеоролики. Эти насекомые, похоже, извечные соперники. Оба хищники, они, бывает, вступают в битву и победить может любой из них. Впрочем, надо отдать должное, на тех фото и видео, которые мне попались, всегда побеждали осы. И именно таким же способом, обезглавливая противника. А я-то думала раньше, что они всякими фруктами-нектарами питаются. Ведь, вокруг яблок, арбузов, варений где-нибудь на даче или на уличных прилавках всегда вьётся множество ос. Я и так-то их опасалась, теперь - вдвойне. | Arriving home, I searched for information and found similar photos and videos on the Internet. These insects seem to be eternal rivals. Both are predators, they sometimes enter into battle and either of them can win. However, I must pay tribute, in the photos and videos that I came across, the wasps always won. And in exactly the same way, beheading the enemy. I used to think that they feed on all sorts of fruits and nectars. After all, there are always a lot of wasps hovering around apples, watermelons, jams somewhere in the country or on street stalls. I was already afraid of them, now I’m doubly afraid. |
