The dairy game~ A summary of how my Saturday went 🥂

in Writing & Reviews3 years ago (edited)

Sometime last month my ushering group had the opportunity to attend and serve in a funeral service at Etinan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. Though we don't have a name yet, but we get jobs most times and we deliver well.

We were linked by our Dean in school then who has been giving us works in that nature because of how competent and good we are. It's always a beautiful time rendering services to people who need it and can pay very well.

We're usually briefed about how the occasion will be and look like before the day for the event so we can know what's expected of us and prepare well. We went, did our job perfectly well and delivered without no issues and problem of any kind.

After the occasion, our dean thanked us and told us about another occasion which took place on Saturday still at Etinan L.G.A, Akwa Ibom State.

In the last occasion, we were ten (10) in number, six (6) girls and four (4) boys, after the occasion six people were selected out of that ten who could work smartly for the next occasion which was yesterday.

We were given an Ankara material of about one and a half yard to go and sew the same style which we will use that day.

Saturday came and I prepared well and left, getting there I saw that it was a state program which the venue was at Etinan Local Government council. I saw army men from Delta state and from my state mount everywhere from the gate with their weapons.

There were protocol men and women everywhere in their uniforms directing people inside. We first went to the family compound for lying in state and after that was done with the help of "The united Evangelical Church formerly known as Qua Iboe church" we went over to the burial ground.

From the outside I knew there was money in that burial. Everything was just decent, beautiful and nice. They had two DJ's there, one from this my state Akwa Ibom and the other from Delta state, both were just set and ready. The decorations too were just too beautiful, it was like heaven on earth.

The tent were differentiated and partitioned with different tags, like the VIPs, In-laws, Village, church etc.

Even with those arrangements some people were just funny cos they couldn't read what was there and carefully sit where they were supposed to sit. That was why we were told to come work, so we assisted and helped them to sit where they were supposed to.

This is where the casket was laid and this is where the family members sat, from the children to the grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

The VIPs too were told to sit here. The COVID-19 instructions were carefully adhered to.

Sooner or later the burial commensed and in no time at about 1pm, they were done, they casket was taken to where it would be laid and buried. The entertainment proper started.

Those from Delta mounted the stage, they danced and did so many varieties. The pictures will speak.

All these things happened after the burial ceremony still in that ground. I had the opportunity to witness and see how Delta culture is and their way of doing things is like. I saw things, their dressing, food like fisherman soup, ogbono soup, Afang, melon and their language. I kinda liked it Sha.

At the tale, we were given 5000 each, we had enough to eat and drink with souvenirs, t-shirts etc.

I had a nice time and I learnt something as well but I was stressed and I got home late and tired.
