MOVIE REVIEW : HOME ALONE , THE MOVIE THAT WE WILL NEVER EVER FORGET

This was the year's highest-grossing film. I was two years old when it was out, so I obviously did not see it in a theater. It stars Macaulay Culkin as a little innocent boy who didn't stay innocent for long, and Kevin McCallister has such a large family that his big brother buzz says, "I wouldn't let you sleep in my room if you were growing on my butt," and he feels like everyone is against him right now. His parents don't seem to like him at the moment, and then there's Uncle Frank, who says things like "Look what you did, you little jerk." Image Source

Of course, as almost everyone knows, his parents go on holiday with their whole family and leave him home alone, leaving him to fend for himself when two burglars, played expertly by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, try to break into his house for Christmas. What can I say about home alone that hasn't already been said? When a film is this famous and so many people have spoken about it for decades, what can I say that hasn't already been said?

The best way for me to provide you with an original and unique experience is to tell you about my personal experiences with this film. There's a scene in this movie where Kevin McCallister tries to take a sled and go down the stairs of his house, and he launches out the front door, having the time of his life. When I was a girl, I decided to do the same thing, so I got in the laundry basket, the plastic laundry basket, and sat in it at the top of the stairs.

Since it refers to the kid, this film has always had a strong influence on me. And every kid has that moment when he thinks his family is out to get him, where he thinks his parents are out to get him, where he hates his parents for a few days or their whole lives, who knows, but there's always that moment when you're a kid where you think, "Everyone hates me, I hate my dad, I want to be alone, I want to live alone when I grow up and get married." Can you hear me? I'm living here.

I have to admit that this is a very well directed film; it's not just a nice childhood film; as an adult, I've rewatched it every year and each year I find new stuff to admire about it. Chris Columbus, who later went on to direct the first two Harry Potter films, directed this film and he has a great visual sense and is great at setting up jokes because the comedy in this film is spot on, and it's not just the slapstick humor of the booby-trap series.

Actually, the editing is excellent; he knows exactly when to pause, when not to pause, and when to speed up the humor; it's a very well-made film. I'm going to be all analytical about home alone, because it doesn't matter because there's a scene of flawless editing and comedic timing, and it's just a tiny scene. Macaulay Culkin is truly perfect in this film; it is one of the greatest child performances ever; he is incredible in this film; he gave all that this film required; he was the kid hero of the 1990s. He was that kid that every single kid was like yes I want to be him I want to be home alone I want to have all this fun I want to set up booby traps I want to steal my brother's BB gun buzz.

I need to expand on the Wet Bandits. Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern as a child, I always thought Joe Pesci was just Harry because I had never seen Goodfellas as a five-year-old, but as an adult, after seeing Raging Bull, Goodfellas, and Casino, and then going home and watching it alone, I was like oh my god, this was a huge departure for Joe Pesci shut it Marv and Daniel Stern as Marv. You can't imagine him being played by someone else; nowadays, it's hard to imagine anyone other than Daniel Stern starring alongside Joe Pesci in this film.

Merry Christmas, you dirty beast, there's such a great set up because you see that tape early in the film and Kevin is terrified by it, so he tries to use it against people in the movie, and he uses it against the little Nero's pizza delivery man, which is a great scene, and he uses it against Marv. Adults will enjoy seeing this kid figure things out because he is smart and using his head. You don't have to be a kid to enjoy this series. Every year, I watch Home Alone; it never gets old, and it never will. This film is one of my favorites among family films.
