Hello Everyone…!!!
It was disheartened to see our own community taken away from us. But all is not lost yet, we can still build from scratch to be better and stronger than before.
Today I will be publishing a poem which I cherish so much and will like to share with you all. This poem is about the good old days and how our generation has come to mess things up.
Our beautiful yesterday
Just a decade down the lane, I still remember the beautiful smiles, the innocence and the hope that the future was going to be bright. Time has passed yet the memories still feel like yesterday. With so much guts, we said to our young selves that the story had to change. Though born out of filth, we pledged to rise clean and strong. The sincerity with which we smiled even when we had little to eat was our biggest strength.
We were a community laking so much worldly pleasures but our lives were still a treasure. Even when the world called us illiterates we still boasted of our guts to become literates.
Now I sit and look back, all I see is a street full of young mothers and fraudsters.Is this the punishment for daring to dream so big or perhaps just scars from our failure to chase so hard after our dreams?
In my silent moments, I am forced to ask myself, what happened to our beautiful yesterday? The community once beaming with so much smiles is far lost in miles. We've given it all to materialism, worst of it all none seem to care. The cycle doesn't seem to be breaking anytime soon because we seem to enjoy this doom. Dare speak against this doom, and you have thousands of mouths slaughtering your throat.
If only I could reverse the clock of time, maybe we will go back and mend our ways. I miss our beautiful yesterday, the good old days.
