Carrot is a biennial plant, in the first year of life it forms a rosette of leaves and root crops, in the second year of life: a seed and seed shrub.

Due to the content of a pigment, carrots can exhibit completely unexpected beneficial properties. And it's not just about strengthening visual function, although a lack of vitamin A contained in regular orange carrots can lead to twilight vision disorder.

We are talking about dozens of diseases in the treatment of which carrots can show the best. Furthermore, cancer is one of the most formidable opponents carrots successfully deal with under certain conditions.

Orange carrots are a true reservoir of beta carotene (provitamin A) and one of the main natural sources of production for the body. Under the influence of liver enzymes, it is converted to vitamin A (retinol), which supports the work of many internal organs and systems. First, vitamin A is the foundation of overall eye health.

Carrots need a neutral or slightly alkaline environment. We do not put manure under the carrots, but lime, up to 0.5 kg per square meter. Liming is done by dispersing throughout the area before digging. Not more than once every two years. Experts believe that spongy lime is too strong a deoxidizer, it is better to use chalk or dolomite flour.

Ways to plant carrots

Carrot seeds are so small, tight, that they bring discomfort when sowing. So I advise some of these ways to plant carrots.

  • Some gardeners glue carrot seeds with paste or bone glue on a strip of toilet paper, make a groove in the garden, spill it well with water, place a strip of glued seeds, and sprinkle with soil. At first, you should water more frequently, so that the paper softens and the seeds receive enough moisture to germinate.

  • A paste is prepared 4 hours before planting (2 teaspoons of starch per liter of water). A paste with seeds is poured into the bottle and from a thin tube inserted into the cork of the bottle, a small mixture is squeezed into the groove of the bed. I really like this method: carrots are sown quickly, the paste retains moisture, and the seeds germinate well. No need to shoot.

  • It is recommended to mix the carrot seeds with sand (you can add fertilizer), try to pour the mixture on the bed not thickly.

  • You can take ready poured seeds or dragee yourself using dry manure, clay, humates. The dough sticks to the seeds, they get bigger and easier to lay on the bed. Disadvantage: seeds can stick together.

  • Sow the seeds one by one, in groove with mechanical precision of 3-5 centimeters, like a skilled gardener will sow carrots with dried seeds from a white bag, after two weeks: friendly shoots, you only need to lose weight once.

I heard that advice: do not sow one but several seeds, about five. When transplanting, select among the five plants already visible, the one that is bigger, stronger, the rest is extracted.
