Sri Lanka in a critical phase with the COVID-19
Well, now it's not a secret that we are passing a very critical phase with the COVID-19. Repeatedly now we are witnessing nearly 200 deaths and 4000+ patients. So, up to now, there are 4 lakhs + patients and 7500+ deaths in Sri Lanka due to this pandemic. With a population of around 20 million, this ratio is pretty high. Despite the ratio, any single death is just like a whole world to some people.
According to the latest updates, the delta variant is getting severe in the country. There are around 4 types up to now. And the worst case is now we are hearing about the deaths of young people more and more. The health sector is getting weakened as well.
So, it's a good thing that country is in lockdown after all. But did you see it as a complete lockdown? Nope. There are a number of essential activities listed and thousands of people are still at work. Did you have any idea of the reason for this?
Because the threat is not only the pandemic, the economy is also just like going to hell. Complete lockdown means, there is no income for the government to pay the huge debts, to provide essential services, no dollars to import goods, etc. I think already you are witnessing the effects of this. There is a scarcity of essential food like rice, milk, sugar, and prices are slowly increasing. At least at the last moment, the government has admitted that. It's just the failure of our so-called system.
So, that's why now we have to fight both these challenges. This is not to fear anyone, but for me it's the sad truth.
People have now understood the severity of this and trying their best to follow the health guidlines. But sometiomes, the working category has been over exposed. On one hand the vaccination process in the country has to be appreciated. So, hope we could reach full vaccination soon.
Meanwhile, try to stay safe as much as possible. And also, in this lockdown season just check about your neighbours and other needy people to give a hand. Because as we always said
'the lockdown is not the same for everyone.'
Hope we can win both these battles as a country and the world!!!

We have to be more careful. It is because of the stupid actions of the rulers as well as some people that the country became to this situation.
But some people still do not follow these instructions exactly.That is why we hear so many tragedies.
