So we 'Dutchlanders' are cheap, eh?

Buncha thrifty basterds them Dutch!

That is why we bond so well with the Scottish. ;-)

We're just being economical about pretty everything.

Anyway, this is the first publication in the 'Dutchland' community Hive {BOOKMARK IT!}. Dutchland, the country that has many inhabitants, known as the Dutch, but their country was never to be found on any map. Until Steem came along, that is. So now the Dutch do have a real virtual digital piece of land of their own! No longer will those poor Dutch have to wander the earth, to find a place of their own. (Yes, that is ment to be ironic...) Hoera, hoera, hoera! {EN: Yahtzee! x3}.

"So, you are not that dead serious?", well, yes and no. It is a bit like: "De draak er mee steken." {EN: To make fun of it.} , because it is strange that the people from Nederland are not known as: the Nederish, by the many. Even some of the Nederish themselves talk about being Dutch. While the Pennsylvanian Dutch, for instance, actually speak German. The reason is simple, because it is based on a misunderstanding, going on for centuries, initially caused by the English. Somewhere in a time when New York was still known as New Amsterdam. There were quite some European nomads there, like those from Germany and England, among many others. The French you say? No, they moved up north eh. Anyho, in the German language their country has no reference to the Germanic people at all. It is actually called 'Deutschland' in their native tongue. And they refer to their own language as Deutsch, you might call it German though.

When the 18th century English, being in New Amsterdam, asked German people what language they spoke, their reply would be: "Deutsch." Should they have said: "German" instead? Who knows, actually the English in those days might have known better, as they are in fact of German origin. Their so called 'Royalty' came from Germany. So in a way, there will never really be a Engxit, or whatever it is called, they are as European as it can get. :-p The English in that time thought the Germans were Nederlanders, or Nederish, so they called them the Dutch. Which would be alright for the actual Deutsch. For the Nederish though it became weird. But opportunists as they are, business above all, they decided it could be used to economically benefit them. As it still does, hence why I called this community Hive: Dutchland... Talking business, finally the Dutch (from Nederland) sold New Amsterdam to the Brittas Empire for an apple and an egg. Hence why New York is still known as the Egg Apple, or more as the commonly accepted changed version: the Big Apple. (Its flag still reminds of it being part of Nederland.)

Have fun in Dutchland!

So welcome dear Dutchlander, this now can be your real digital virtual home. Do you have to be Dutch to become a member? Well, technically there are no real Dutch people, just like Holland does not exist. There are two provinces in Nederland called Noord-Holland and Zuid-Holland, but there is actually no Holland as a country. Yet again: business, if you want Tulips from Holland? We'll freakin' sell them to ya! How much do you want? Bulk buying, that'll get ya a 2 percent discount and transport is on us. See, that is us, the Hollanders, the Dutch or the Nederish, whatever you want, as long as we can do business, we do not care what you call us. So people like Ned and Justin could be perfect Dutchlanders. And so could you! But ya need to have at least a sense of humor and see the world as an endless place of possibilities. And by the way, it you want to haggle, you huckster, then leave me at least 75 percent, eh? One's got to live off of something, right?

In line with this a lot goes within this community hive. Just let the other be who they are, or some'in in line with that.

Tot later! {EN: See you later, FR: Abientot, DE: Bis spaeter!}

With kindest regards,

@oaldamster

Absolutely!

'finally the Dutch (from Nederland) sold New Amsterdam to the Brittas Empire for an apple and an egg. Hence why New York is still known as the Egg Apple, or more as the commonly accepted changed version: the Big Apple.'

I just wonder how New York would be called now if we would have sold it for 'a fart and two marbles'?

Ha ha ha, I think it would be 'the Two Big Marbles', maybe to mock secretly it would be called 'the Breaking Wind'.
