What's the news, namely - In memory of the victim who died due to the Corona Virus, Switzerland lit 11 thousand candles.

According to information circulating on several blog sites. More than 11,000 candles symbolizing one for every coronavirus death in Switzerland lit up a dark December night outside the Swiss parliament in Bern on Tuesday.

This is Simon Gehren of the "Corona-Mahnwache" (corona alert) movement told Reuters. "We wanted to create a space to remember and mourn the victims."

Around 40 volunteers help light geometrically arranged candles in the square which is Switzerland's political center, December 8, 2021. The group also organized a similar event last year.

Gehren said the warning was also a call to the government to take tougher action to contain the soaring number of coronavirus infections.

In this regard Switzerland has seen a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases over the past few weeks. The country tightened outbreak control measures last week, but less stringently than neighboring countries, such as Germany or Austria.

Swiss health authorities said Tuesday that 11,288 people have died with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
