DON'T HESITATE TO ASK FOR HELP.

We always encourage taking full responsibility for the problems in one's life. We even see it as a sign of maturity. Despite this, it's important to remember that no matter how independent you are, there are times when you need the opinion, and input of others, to achieve a breakthrough or succeed. At this point, you will need to ask for help.

Truly, there is nothing wrong with asking for help when you really need it. Also, don't assume everyone already knows what you need without you asking them. They are not omniscient and may be busy with other things, so you should ask.

Asking for help, when you know clearly that you cannot handle it alone does not make you weak. Rather, it is actually an act of maturity. Even though it is okay to ask for help, be sure you ask for the right thing so that you won't lose your respect in the process.

For example, if you can work, it is not good for you to stand on the road asking for arms. Instead of asking for that, you can ask people to help you secure a job even while you too are applying for a job. This implies that, although it is good to ask for help, as no man can do it alone, do not be a liability.

Having established that it is good to ask for help, there are things we need to consider before asking people for help. Before you ask someone for help, don't feel entitled to receive it. Conclude this in your mind that if they do finally come to your rescue, it is actually an act of love or mercy.

To understand this better, before you ask someone for help, first put yourself in the person's shoes and ask yourself if people asked you questions like this, would you accept their request? If you are not sure of the answer, just know that your request is not good and you shouldn't make it using that approach.

Another point to keep in mind even if you are asking about the real reason is the time location. Wrong timing can mean outright rejection, even if the reason is good. You should also record the mood of the person you need help with and also check that you are the right person.

Imagine an employee who was warned by his boss that he shouldn't be late for work, showed up at closing hours and still ask for a raise, how do you think his boss would react? However, if you ask when your boss praises you for your efforts, you are more likely to get a positive response.

Lastly don't be scared to ask for help because you are scared you might get a no as an answer. It is better you asked and get a "no" as answer than not asking at all. At least you can beat your heart and say that you did everything that you could in that situation.
