Hello friends, it is another time to share with us my entry on the said topic. Having aged people in a family is a blessing in whatever way we want to look at it. This is different from having dependents who are physically challenged.

I used to have an aged relative, in fact my grandmother who comes or we visit and stay with. She is one person who made visiting the village was worth it. Her love for her grandchildren and the facial expression she displays is one in a million. She has a pet name for everyone.

We stayed very well during the early years in the 90s, where we spent over two successive years. She was indeed a nice person to stay with. She happened to be the oldest not until the 26th of April 2024 when she was lowered to the mother earth after she was aged 106 years.

Staying with her was really a great deal and experience for us, especially me. She was an epitom of knowledge as things I learned traditionally mostly came from her. She would want to start telling us stories of the past and how they started live, how the Nigeria civil war started, and their activities all through those times.

Even when she was already of an age that required that we should fend for her in totality, she still wanted to do things herself. I could remember her melon stew sauce and how tasty it always turned out whenever it was prepared. Notwithstanding, she was well taken care of given the value we have for her.

You may be wondering why she was with us. My grandmother's first son was my dad, and hence, the love transfered to everyone in the family. We deligently gave her all the attention she required without any form of coercion. She was able to have taste of our modern food types like the noodles and other canned foods that made her taste buds rejoice.

When she goes back to the village to spend some time as they always believe that there's no place like home, we join her during festive periods. During our visit to the village she made something very remarkable. We did learn some amazing tasks. She took us round to her farms to help fetch firewood, weed the farm, and of it was time to harvest, we did harvest as well.

In fact, I could remember a time when we did harvest casaava from one of her farms, since we needed to make garri (cassava floor) for the home. We did harvest it, detached the.nack, washed them, took them to the millers, and then fried it for use. It was a process I hold strong to date.

She had access to an android phone, which showed how to simply operate it. Each time calls enter the phone, she knows how to pick up the call and answer. For returning missed calls, she would always need little or no assistance in doing so.

It was an honour to have her and to have cared for her during her lifestime on earth. It was a remarkable moment and indeed a memorable experience with her.

Thank you.

The love that you and your other relatives show to your grandmother has made her live for more than 100 years which is the joy of having a good family, that can put a smile on your face. The reason why she was visiting you people often is because of the happiness and peace of mind she get from your family. Caring for our dependents is what we should keep doing so we can be taken care of when we get old also. Good luck to you sir.

Hello sir,

You used to have an aged relative and it was your grandmother who comes or you visit and stay with her. As you mentioned, she is one person who made visiting the town or the village worth it, which reflects sounds good. She loves everyoneand also had a pet name for everyone. It sounds that your grandmother was very cool.

Good luck 🍀

@xkool24

Your grandmother is very old, yes, one hundred and six years old is quite a long time and I like it because when a person is taken care of in old age, when he is lying down, then he lives so long. And I am very happy to say that your grandmother is also living her life in the best way and is still living it well. Take extra care and I really like the way you and your family take care of your elders.
