WHAT DOES RECYCLING BROUGHT ME TO? | WASTE CLOTHES ARE USEFUL! ♻️ |

in Beauty of Creativity3 years ago

Greetings my co-steemers! Today, let me share my creativity in recycling waste clothes. With the following detailed work in process shown below, you can simply make someone feel loved and happy as this is also best for ladies and kids' gift ideas.

As one of the ladies, we really like fixing our hair since we were kids. Love collecting colorful hair pins and ribbons even we can't use it all at once!

During this pandemic, I've got into a lot of new things as now I got a lot of free time. And for me not to think deeper about the hard situations that we're into, I got myself up and back to my biggest hobby -HANDICRAFTS!

In my first time making this, I only used my bare hands to stitch scrunchies, ribbons and I even made my own tops.

Here are my DIY tops by just using my bare hands in stitching. I re-created these tops from old-fashioned clothes.

By watching videos online, it gave me a lot of ideas on how to do it especially in cutting patterns and measuring. Before, I supposed to do it just for a TRY as I really love fashion and putting my hair up to braids. To think, it's better to make my own than buying. I didn't just saved but I learn as well. And when my nieces saw it, they also wanted to have one so I made them with larger ribbons.

I'm using fabrics from old trousers and silk blouses. We supposed to throw these while decluttering (some clothes that are still good was donated) but I still found it useful though. So, I decided to turn it into scrunchies. photoGridMaker_20210419_215149845.jpg

Vintage machine is not getting older!

Just on sunday, I paid visit at my granny's home and stayed for a day. While I can't find any network signal at their farm, I decided to make scrunchies by using my late grandma's vintage sewing machine and some of her left over fabrics (adjusted clothes and curtains) I found in machine's drawer.

STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE:

This is one of the fabric scraps I found. Glady, its size is just right to make my hair tie (fabric must be tripled or quadrupled size of your wrist).

• The first thing to do is put down the fabric in a flat surface. Fold it horizontally to level both sides (fabric must be inside out) .

photoGridMaker_20210416_135109686.jpg

• When leveled, start to stitch/sew the side of the fabric.

photoGridMaker_20210416_135238323.jpg

• After sewing, check carefully if it's well stitched.

Tip: You can use pins to ensure your fabric will keep its alignment or it won't move while sewing.

• When done, use safety pin to invert the stitched fabric.

Tip: Safety pin will help you to invert the fabric easily.

• Next, sew again the sides. It's like Valenciana kind of stitch.

• Then, measure your wrist with 2-inch allowance.Use this measurement to cut garter for the scrunchy.

• When done, insert a single garter inside of the stitched fabric with the help of safety pin.
photoGridMaker_20210416_135706291.jpg

• Stop when the end of the garter near you will reach at your desired measurement allowance of the fabric.

I left 5-inch allowance. Feel the garter inside then use the 1-inch allowance of the garter before the 5-inch allowance of fabric then apply double stitch to lock the end of the garter inside fabric.

This is how it will look like.

• Continue pulling the other end of the garter until reach beyond the 5-inch allowance of the fabric. Apply double stitch at 1-inch garter allowance.

• Remove the safety pin. But before that, stretch the unfinished hair tie to ensure the garter is well-locked by the double stitch you applied.

• Afterwards, Insert 0.84 cm or little end part of the fabric inside then sew to give both ends a clean work.

• Lastly, make a basic tie. Let the double stitch from the garter to act as your marker in making a knot.

Make a knot twice and there you have it!

THESE ARE THE OTHER SCRUNCHIES I MADE OUT FROM WASTE CLOTHES:

Let us all use our creativity in recycling things instead of leaving it around our house because we thought it's useless. Even in simplest way, we can do a lot to re-create those and find it useful once again. If you have waste clothes out there, think of an idea to make another pupose out of that material.

Here are some choices I can give you:

  • Pillow case (cut out the sleeves of a shirt and leave the lower portion of the chest then stitch the sides and add zipper -printed shirts are good)
  • Pillow *(simply braid and collect old/ripped sweaters)
  • couch cover/blanket (collect and connect printed/colorful waste clothes by patching)
  • tote bag (old jeans)
  • apron for gardening/cooking (old jeans/pants -use the part with pockets so you can put and easily grab your tools while working)
  • pot holder
  • pretty rugs
  • purse/pouches
  • turn old-fashioned tops to trendy clothes and a lot more...

♡HAPPY STEEMING!♡
