My pet a giant Achatina

What could be sweeter than a snail drinking water. This is our pet - a giant Achatina, a native of East Africa. The length of the shell of an adult snail is usually up to 10 cm, although there are specimens longer than 20 cm.
Achatins are hermaphrodites, that is, each individual has both male and female genitals. At low population densities, even self-fertilization is possible. When mating two snails of the same size, bilateral fertilization is possible, but if the size is different, then the individual of larger sizes acts as a bag.

Life expectancy is up to 10 years, but most often about 5-6. They grow throughout life, but the most active growth in the first two years of life.
They lead a nocturnal lifestyle.
It is also interesting that achatins have been proven to have a long-term memory: they can remember everything that happened to them for one hour, they can remember the location of the food source and return to it. Young individuals are more mobile and can travel long distances in search of food and even migrate. Old snails choose a place to rest, to which they always return and most often do not crawl away from it further than 5 m.
