So… Die richtig komplizierten Sachen, Facharbeiten, die uns aufgehalten und ausgebremst haben, sind bewältigt!

Klingt nach eitel Freude und Sonnenschein ;-)) Von letzterem genießen wir momentan reichlich am künftigen neuen Lebensmittelpunkt (teilweise so viel, daß Kreislauf und Schweißdrüsen bereits an ihrem Limit ankommen…) Aber auch die vielen Kleinigkeiten, die jetzt auf dem Programm stehen:

Badewanne, Waschbecken, Armaturen anbringen. Wände ausbessern und verkleiden. Renovieren. Dachrinne abdichten, Regentonnen installieren. Ein Loch in einer Mauer außerhalb des Hauses zumauern. Zaun setzen.

An zwei Stellen muß der Fußboden aufgebaut werden: im Eßzimmer mittels Trockenestrich auf Schüttung und im ersten Flur sowie Bad ziehen wir den Einsatz von Fließestrich als Ausgleichsmasse vor.

Ein Fenster muß repariert werden. Das Schloß der Hintertür war wohl ‚mal eine Notlösung und paßt nicht wirklich dorthin. Die Inbetriebnahme eines Kaminofens erfordert noch die Veränderung der Revisions- und Reinigungsklappen – die entsprechen nicht mehr der aktuellen Norm.

Im Außenbereich wächst und das Gras krautig über den Kopf. Es ist schwierig, das Grünzeug in Schuß zu halten, wenn wir nur am Wochenende vor Ort sind – ab morgen legen wir aber wieder eine Intensivphase ein! Bewässerung läuft, einige der bereits angepflanzten Gewächse vom Berliner Dachgarten erfreuen sich der neuen Freiheit, andere bemängeln die fehlende Zuwendung. Wir werden erleben, was gut anwächst…

Könnt Ihr Euch erinnern, daß die örtliche Bushaltestelle und der Flaschencontainerplatz auf unserem Grundstück angelegt waren? Wir hatten keine Absichten, daran etwas zu ändern, sondern baten auf der Amtsgemeinde darum, ausgleichsweise etwas angrenzende gemeindeeigene Fläche für uns mit einzäunen zu dürfen (ohne die Quadratmeter genau aufzurechnen). Immerhin waren die Standorte wirklich praktisch und eine Verlegung bedeutet aus unserer Sicht unnötigen Aufwand.

Na ja, könnte alles so einfach sein… Eine sinnvolle Antwort auf unser Angebot bzw. die Anfrage erhielten wir nicht, nur die Mitteilung, daß alles zeitnah beräumt würde und wir uns bitte strikt an unsere formale Grundstücksgrenze zu halten hätten. Dieses „zeitnah“ zögerte sich, wie so vieles dort, einige Wochen und Monate hinaus. Aber: vergangene Woche war es so weit – alles abgebaut und sauber hinterlassen. Nun denn!

In der kommenden Woche erhalten wir hohen Besuch; Ty-ty‘s kürzlich verwitwete Schwester kommt über Pfingsten und schaut sich an, wohin es uns verschlägt. Da sie eher sehr steril und klinisch rein lebt und das auf möglichst teurem Niveau, wird sie von unserer gelebten Improvisation voll erwischt werden ;-))

Außerdem findet am Wochenende im Nachbarort ein traditionelles Ringreiten statt: noch ist es zu früh, mich dort selbst einzubringen. Aber den Teilnehmern bei der intensiven Vorbereitung zuzuschauen, ist… wie soll ich es am besten sagen… lustig ;-))

Also alles in Bewegung (in die richtige Richtung). Und ich freue mich riesig darüber, daß ich nicht mehr die Einzige mit diesem „Zu-Hause-Gefühl“ bin, wenn wir in die Dorfstraße einbiegen und durch die Bäume unser Haus sehen.

So... The really complicated things, the specialised work that held us up and slowed us down, have been dealt with!

Sounds like pure joy and sunshine ;-)) We are currently enjoying plenty of the latter at our future new centre of life (sometimes so much that our blood circulation and sweat glands are already reaching their limit...) But also the many little things that are now on the programme:

Fitting the bathtub, washbasin and taps. Repairing and panelling walls. Renovate. Sealing the guttering, installing rain barrels. Brick up a hole in a wall outside the house. Put up a fence.

The floor has to be built up in two places: in the dining room using dry screed on fill and in the first hallway and bathroom we prefer to use flowing screed as a levelling compound.

A window has to be repaired. The lock on the back door was probably a makeshift solution and doesn't really fit there. The installation of a wood-burning stove still requires the inspection and cleaning flaps to be changed - they no longer meet the current standard.

Outside, the grass grows herbaceously over our heads. It's difficult to keep the greenery in good shape when we're only on site at the weekend - but from tomorrow we're going into an intensive phase again! Watering is underway, some of the plants already planted from the Berlin roof garden are enjoying their new freedom, others are criticising the lack of attention. We'll see what grows well…

Do you remember that the local bus stop and the bottle bank were located on our property?
We had no intention of changing this, but asked the local council to allow us to fence in some neighbouring municipal land (without counting up the exact square metres). After all, the locations were really practical and relocating them would mean unnecessary expense from our point of view.

Well, it could all be so easy... We didn't receive a meaningful response to our offer or enquiry, only the message that everything would be cleared promptly and that we would have to adhere strictly to our formal property boundary. Like so many things there, this "promptly" was delayed for several weeks and months. But: last week the time had come - everything was dismantled and left clean. Now then!

In the coming week, we will be receiving a high-ranking visitor; Ty-ty's recently widowed sister is coming over Whitsun to see where we are going. As she tends to live a very sterile and clinically clean life at the most expensive level possible, she'll be totally taken in by our improvisation style ;-))

There's also a traditional ring riding event in the neighbouring village this weekend: it's still too early for me to get involved. But watching the participants prepare intensively is... how can I put it best... fun ;-))

So everything is moving (in the right direction). And I'm really pleased that I'm no longer the only one with this "at-home feeling" when we turn into the village street and see our house through the trees.
