[Poem] The Silent Sentinel

castle.jpg

Stone teeth pierce the clouds, a stoic silhouette,
A castle, weathered warrior, with secrets it won't forget.
Moss carpets ancient walls, where banners once did fly,
Echoes of laughter and clash, a whisper in a sigh.

Sunlight paints the battlements, a golden, fading crown,
Once home to knights and ladies, a kingdom's heart, renowned.
Grand halls, now silent chambers, hold memories untold,
Of feasts and firelight flickering, stories brave and bold.

Spiral stairs wind ever higher, to a lonely, watchful tower,
Where once a watchful guard stood, gazing in the twilight hour.
The drawbridge, rusted iron, a frozen, broken sigh,
No longer welcoming guests, beneath the endless sky.

The castle stands, a sentinel, a whisper in the breeze,
A monument to ages past, a witness to time's decrees.
