We have visited this shrine in the month of February 2019 and it was a great experience to pay the tribute to the Gujarat's renowned Spiritual Sufi Saint.
This is a final resting place of a most revered, famous and great Sufi Saint popularly known as Sarkhej Roza. It's a Dargah of Hazrat Shaikh Ahmed Ganj Bakhsh Khattu R.A. As Sarkhej was the favourite place of Hazrat Shaikh Ahmed Khattu rip who was from Patan and he was a best companion of Sultan Ahmad Shah and Spiritual Advisor too and he remain the spiritual teacher of other Sultan also. On his advise the Bhadra Fort was built close to Sabarmati.
Its work was commenced in 1445 AD and it was completed in 1451 AD. Its designers were having a great vision and they justified by their brilliant design. Main shrine is located at the east of the Sarkhej Mosque. It's a remarkable Architectural marvel. Shrine is adorned by the spherical domes and walls with fine screens. Which was commenced by Mohammed Shah and was completed by his son Qutub Shah. A row of royal residential complexes, tomb complexes, a tank were added by Sultan Mahmud Begada. Stone screens and the robust harmonous designs and Indo Sarcenic Architecture is magnificent.
Sarkhej Roza is a grand and most revered shrine complex situated about 7 kms from Ahmedabad and followers are visiting from all over the world. He died in 1445 AD at the age of 111 years. Sarkhej was the home where great Sufi Saint lived his final retired life. And Sarkhej attained the heights in Sufism and became a popular spiritual center. In this complex the tomb of Sultan Mahmud Begada and his two sons also of Rani Rajbai's simple but elegant tomb is situated. Sarkhej library and it's galleries are quite informative and Sarkhej Jami Masjid is an elegant architectural marvel. One must visit this heritage. To visit this shrine at least 3 hours are required.
