This was a great read. I had a similar start to my journey towards fitness in that a rather traumatizing event had just occurred in my life and I couldn't get it out of my head. I found that I was able to turn that rage into gains in fitness and what an excellent avenue for depression alleviation. Of course I tried booze before I tried fitness and that didn't work for me, it doesn't work for anyone.
I am happy you have overcome your demons with something productive. Run on!
