Quite so much of things to actually write about that most of the time we don't really pay attention to. As a writer, one of the things that really need to stay with you every single time is what I will tagged as inspiration. You must never lose your inspiration as a writer.

Today, I am here again to participate in the contest by @patjewell and today I will be dropping my entry and I belong you will enjoy it. Today I will be going with the choice of Home and I will be writing some outlines about the word home so stay tune. My topic for today will be on "Understanding Broken Homes: Causes, Effects, and Paths to Healing"

Introduction To Broken Home.

It is really a sad thing in our community the rate at which people suffer from broken homes and the effect it have on their life all around. I have interacted with a lot of my friends who suffer from broken homes and I will say it is not really a good things as they constantly need to suffer from the emotional, mental and psychological effect that comes with broken homes.

Out of my burden for this topic, I will be talking about Broken Homes just like I mentioned earlier and in my post, I will be touching the aspect of the causes of Broken homes, the effects it have as I will be looking into it also and then I will round up by looking into the ways or the pathways to healing from broken home so stay tune below.

First of all, what is a Broken Home?. A broken home is a situation whereby a family is suffering from disunity and separation due to reasons like divorce, domestic violence, and other forms of the family instability. This result as a result of communication breakdown among family members and most of the time it is the children who will actually experience that feeling of separation or should I say abandonment.

Like I said, in our society nowadays, there is a whole lot of families suffering from broken homes and one of the things about broken home is that it does not suddenly happen. There are situations or should I say causes that lead to broken homes. Most of the time those causes are not address at the early stage and so led to the effect of broken homes. I will be discussing about some of the causes of broken homes below.

• Divorce or Separation.

This will be the first point I will actually make mention of because trust me it has been the leading cause of broken homes in our society. There are a whole lot of families who are not able to handle some of their family issues whether little or mighty and at the end of the day resulted to divorce. Divorce causes the separation and most of the time leads to the broken homes because the family members will need to live separately at the end of the day.

Most of the time, this causes emotional distress and instability for all the family members that is actually involved. In most cases, a lot of children might not be able to recover from the divorce and like I said, most of the time it is the children that will need to deal with the effects so much.

• Domestic Violence:

From my experience and the little information I have also gathered from people experience, I have come to discover that broken homes does not happen in an atmosphere of peace and harmony. This will lead me to say that the presence of domestic violence and abuse in the family often times lead to the family relationship been affected or broken down. It creates this atmosphere of emotional trauma, distress, fear, which at the end of the day leads to the family separation and causing broken home at the end of the day.

• Substance Abuse.

Substance abuse is also one of the leading cause of broken homes or separation that happens in the family. What do I mean by Substance abuse, I mean abuse of drugs, drinks or any substances by either one of the parents, both or even the children at times can plays a major role to affect the peaceful atmosphere withing the family. This can most of the time leads to conflict, financial challenges, mental breakdown and if not dealt with can cause the total separation of the family members leading to a broken home.

• Infidelity.

This list of causes will not be complete without me not actually mentioning the factor of infidelity as playing a major role in causing broken homes in our society. When infidelity happens in a marriage, it breaks trust and break the intimacy between the parents or spouses. It create this feeling of betrayal and emotional breakdown. Most of the time infidelity has destroyed a whole lot of marriages if not actually dealt with at the early stage. At the end of the day, this leads to a broken home in the family.

• Financial Challenges.

Lastly in the list of the causes of Broken homes I will be discussing what I call financial challenges. Yea in most part of some families, what causes the separation are financial challenges like unemployment issues, like debts or Poverty. Some family will not be able to deal with the the tension and possibly conflict it might want to cause in the family. This resulted to constant conflicts, arguements and struggle to meet the basic needs in the family thereby leading to the breakdown of the family unity. At the end of the day, it resulted in a broken home.

Now that I have talked about the causes of broken home, let me move to the next section of my post and which we will be looking at the effects of Broken Homes. So many effects broken homes leads to or causes in the family, in the life of the children and even generally in the society. Let's look at them together below;

• Behavioral Problems:

This will be my first on the list of the effects of Broken homes. I have actually come to discover that children who comes from broken homes will have high tendency to show behavioural problems like anger, bitterness, depression, and many more due to the emotional stress with in their home. Some children will find it hard to actually balance the emotions and this will lead to them having bad behaviour because most of them lack the presence of parental guidance and support in their life.

• Academic Struggles:

I will say this is one of the popular effects of Broken homes. Academics struggles is so popular in the life of children who is suffering from broken homes because the issue they face at home will negatively affect their academic performance. They will have issues in concentration, reading or even attending school consistently due to the issues in their family life. In fact in most cases, a lot of the children will drop out of school because they can't cope with the emotional stress that comes with a broken home.

• Risk of Substance Abuse:

Broken home always produce a repetitive pattern if not tackled and one of it is the risk of substance abuse. This is common in homes that are broken due to substance abuse also. Children suffering from broken home if not well taken care of might result in engaging in substance abuse in the future. Most of them will lack the discipline, the parental guidance and might lead those children to join the wrong association that will affect them negatively and result in them practicing substance abuse.

• Social Challenges:

The last effect I will be making mention of actually before I actually moved to the next section of this post is social challenges. Children from broken homes will actually find it difficult to have a healthy and positive relationship with their peers. The majority of them will struggle with trust issues, social silence and many more thereby affecting their interaction in the society. Most of them dislike marriage due to what they have experienced in their broken home.

How To Heal From Broken Homes

• Seek Therapy

Like I said, a whole lot of people who suffer from broken homes are been affected emotionally, mentally and psychologically and one of the things that can really help you to overcome those effects is for you to seek therapy. This is one of the first pathway to healing from broken homes. By therapy, I mean the professional ones, counselling can be provided and the emotions will be Overcome. They can help in offering you guidance, coping strategies and how to overcome those feelings that might want to come due to the emotional effect of a broken home.

• Build Support Networks.

One of the ways that can help you to quickly heal is to surround yourself with supportive friends, family members and peers who can help you to recover emotionally. They can offer encouragement and inspiration to see in the future even when it is not looking as it. This will really provide a very vital force in your healing journey.

• Practice Forgiveness:

For everyone who comes from broken home, it might really be hard to forgive but the truth is if you really want to heal from the broken home effects, you need to practice forgiveness. You need to let it go. Anger, bitterness and unforgiveness will hinder your healing journey. I know you have really been affected by the broken home or the issue in the family but let it go. Forgive and move on. Let go of the past instead of allowing the past to limit you. You are more than what happen in the family so don't let it affect you. Move on and enjoy the peace of life that comes in the future.

• Focus on Personal Growth

The last in my list as I conclude is for you to focus on your personal growth. After you have surround yourself with supportive network and also have forgive and let go. Get busy with your life. Work on your self development. Invest in your life and always think of having a more positive life than you have right now. Set goals for yourself and get them achieved. There is still a whole lot to achieve and which you must be busy with. Progress with your life.
