The Roadblock in Our Way

Once upon a time, there was a king who was both wealthy and curious. This king erected a massive boulder in the middle of a road. Then he hid nearby, waiting for anyone to attempt to remove the massive rock from the lane.

Some of the king's richest merchants and courtiers were among the first to walk by. They simply walked around it rather than pushing it. A few people yelled at the King for not keeping the roads in good shape. They didn't even try to lift the rock.
Finally, a farmer turned up. His arms were stuffed with fruits and vegetables. Rather than simply walking around the boulder like the others had done, the peasant laid down his load and attempted to shift the stone to the side of the path. He eventually succeeded after a lot of effort.

When the peasant collected his belongings and was about to leave, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The farmer took out his purse and opened it. Gold coins and a note from the king were stuffed into the purse. The gold in the purse was a reward for pushing the boulder off the lane, according to the king's note.

The king demonstrated to the peasant something that many of us cannot comprehend.
