4 Reasons Computers Slow Down Over Time

Remember how amazed you were when your new computer started and loaded in a flash? Your computer was the talk of the town, and you weren't ashamed to bask in its radiance. Those were the days!

However, it doesn't seem to be quite as snappy... No, you're not hallucinating. Not simply in comparison to current versions and your expectations, but it has genuinely slowed down... A noticeable decrease in speed and power has nothing to do with worn-out components. The good news is that with a little TLC, that baby will be cruising at peak speed once more. So, let's mosey through the system and look for the foes:

Startup Applications

It's convenient to have Skype and your anti-virus software start immediately. In truth, many of the programs that startup with the computer is necessary for your experience. However, some of them are becoming overly 'helpful.'

For example, when you connect your device to your computer, iTunes assistant loads in the background to speed things up - but if you can't recall the last time, you ran iTunes on your PC, it can be removed. Programs like those hog a percentage of your processing capacity, exacerbating your speed problems. At startup, the average home computer automatically launches roughly 75 apps!

Temporary Junk

Computers are somewhat of a shambles. They leave a trail of temporary files and morsels of information across your hard drive, like a wandering kid with a sticky lunch. Every page you visit, every image on that page, every application you execute, and every game you play all leave a trace.

It might be "cookies," stored game files, auto-restore files, or even a log that allows you to hit the undo button 100 times while the computer recalls your activities.

The more garbage you accumulate on your computer, the slower it becomes.

Viruses And Malware

These infections run in the background, eating resources, and doing various dreadful tasks. They could be watching your every move, stealing your information, or infecting others over your network. The impact of infection is sometimes confined to your computer slowing down. Still, the financial implications of an infection can easily climb into the thousands.

Bloating

Every new software release brings a fresh collection of features, introductory sequences, and design enhancements. The problem is that with each new version, the application grows, demanding more system resources to install and execute – thus slowing down your computer.

Computers, like cars, require regular maintenance; you should get a Tune-Up service to restore your computer's original speed and extend its life.

It is a real calamity that many times we avoid the use of programs to not load the machine and it turns out that every day goes slower, the same thing happens with mobile devices, the apps every day eat space and updates without realizing it,
excellent work thank you

Thank you and appreviate your comments and engagement and input here. Yes. Those updates are often overlooked as space eaters.

hello @joebrochin,
for some time now I have been using linux because it consumes less resources, on the other hand the browsers are growing to the point that they already look like operating systems, so every day they require more resources, every day that passes requires more powerful computers to support the web and its improvements.

Yes, Chrome is one browser that seems to eat a lot of resources. Good point. Ubuntu is an OS I need to try again as I liked it and it seemed very smooth.

One thing I have mostly also noticed why computer slow down is most times it is as a result of the overwork load on it. It is just quite too much working on it and then it get to a point, it get over load and start to slow down

Another reason just have you have said is as a result of viruses also. It gives a long way in contributing to it

Yep, too many apps open at once will do it everytime. Thanks for your input and engagement.

Greetings @joebrochin
An interesting publication and living daily without knowing why this happens with our laptops, no doubt are recommendations that we should put into practice immediately to avoid slowing down our technological equipment. The truth I use Google Chrome and I'm going to switch to Brave.
Thanks for sharing

Thank you. I use Chrome and Brave both. Chrome is very resource hungry and Brave is not, but Chrome works with other Google resources that I utilize so I use both.

Please continue to stop by and engage, thank you.
